We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and outgoing Junior Underwriter/Underwriting Assistant to support the California municipal underwriting desk. This role is designed for an individual interested in developing a strong foundation in municipal finance, primary market execution, credit review, and relationship-driven capital markets.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, highly organized, and possesses the confidence to advocate for market opinions, pricing recommendations, and transaction strategies. This role requires a professional who can build credibility with bankers, financial advisors, issuers, sales professionals, and investors.

This role provides direct exposure to the full municipal underwriting process. The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Underwriter to develop the technical, analytical, and market judgment skills necessary for long-term growth within the firm. Over time, the candidate will be expected to form independent market views and represent the desk professionally in all internal and external interactions.
Our fixed income sales and trading team provides the full array of taxable and tax-exempt investment solutions with multi product trading desks across a 50-state distribution network. Clients gain access to a diverse range of expertise and product knowledge from the Piper Sandler national team of 200+ sales, trading and analytics professionals. The anticipated starting salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $105,000 - $150,000 per year. Placement within this range is dependent upon level of experience, location and other factors. This position is eligible for annual incentive compensation which will be a part of the total compensation. Total compensation for this position will be competitive with the market.
