Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Sentinel program in Roy, UT or Manhattan Beach, CA. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
This position will support the Sentinel Program's Command Systems Hardware Design Integration team. This position will join a team of Mechanical, Electrical and Hardware Integration engineers to design hardware systems and components. Responsibilities will include:
Apply ASME standard processes and procedures to identify, design, and procure electrical and mechanical hardware.
Support design of integrated assemblies in accordance with decomposed requirements, compliance documents, and architecture diagrams in order to support the Sentinel critical design review campaign.
Assist in trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives, and create design artifacts to include 3-dimensional models and product definition packages which will be documented and released using Siemens- based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and modeling (NX) tools.
Operate in and capture inputs from a multi-disciplinary engineering environment consisting of Systems, Software, Design, Compliance, and Hardware engineers.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This position may be filled at either level depending on relevant years of experience & education.
Mechanical Engineer: 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters
Principal Mechanical Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD
Both levels require the following:
Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar
Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering - Scheduling tools and applications.
Experience resolving issues and providing technical support
Capable of working under general supervision and in team environments.
Experience deriving hardware-level requirements from interface, compliance, and performance requirements
Experience designing and generating control drawings and assemblies of systems using commercially-sourced hardware components
Experience developing hardware design materials in support of program design reviews for review with team technical leads and program stakeholders
Experience conducting design reviews as the design author and briefing solution designs to program leadership and stakeholders for release into product baseline
Understanding of structural analysis concerns as applied to designing mechanical systems
Teamcenter CPLM experience
Experience using the electrical workbench within NX or similar CAD software for cable routing purposes
