Northrop Grumman is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 in Hardware Engineering within the Mission Systems Sector that will play a key role in the mission to protect our military personnel. The Hardware Engineering organization is dedicated to consistently providing high quality product designs in support of multiple product areas. The RF Business Unit Mechanical team provides concept-to-production development, test, and integration for all types Systems including circuit card assemblies to Line Replaceable Units (LRU).
The Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 will have relevant experience in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, integration & test, electrical engineering, or hardware engineering. The candidate should be familiar with manufacturing and procurement.
Responsibilities include the ability to oversee project execution, maintain staffing across multiple programs, monitor and improve design processes, provide collaboration internal and external to the Hardware Engineering (HWE) organization, as well as training and development of the engineering staff.
A Mechanical Engineering Manager 2 will have demonstrated highly ethical behavior, and will have developed strong leadership, project management, and communication skills. He or she will have demonstrated success in leading teams, overseeing project execution, and representing the organization as a prime point of contact for internal stakeholders and external customers.
This position will be full-time and on-site at our Rolling Meadows, IL. location
Basic Qualifications:
• BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar discipline and minimum 8 years relevant experience; or MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace or similar discipline with minimum 6 years relevant experience
• Demonstrated success in leading, collaborating, and building teams on complex technical projects
• Demonstrated interest in process improvement initiatives
• Must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors
• Must have people management experience prior
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
• An advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Working knowledge of mechanical engineering circuit card assembly development
• Prior success in leading and developing technical staff - discipline or IPT lead levels are acceptable
Primary Level Salary Range: $153,800.00 - $230,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
