Northrop Grumman Defense System is seeking a Manager Software Engineer 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Manhattan Beach, CA. 

The Functional manager will lead a team of approximately 10-15 DevOps engineers and Systems Administrators working within the Mission Planning department in the Mission Data Management Engineering (MDM) operating unit (OU), part of Northrop Grumman Defense Systems’ C2 & Weapons Integration (CWI) division. The successful candidate will lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies. Specific responsibilities include coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary.  Program Execution and Engineering Excellence are our driving forces. 

The qualified candidate must have 85% coverage on an existing, direct program.  The successful candidate will be authorized for 15% indirect charging to perform duties associated with this position.  

The Manager will support and be accountable for goals including:

• Workforce: maintain staff adequate to execute to program plans, as well as for strategic growth. Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work.
• Performance management: on an ongoing basis engage with staff to identify growth opportunities, deficiencies, appropriate training, etc. Execute to the Enterprise review cycle. Manage compensation and career progression
• Create and maintain forward-looking processes which align to strategic goals.

Basic Qualifications:

• BS or higher degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM), MIS, or related field
• 5+ years of experience, and significant direct experience in the field of DevOps or Systems Administration of Large Windows based environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
• Candidate must have ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
• Candidate must have working knowledge and experience DevOps or Systems Administration disciplines
• Candidate must have familiarity with the other Engineering disciplines
• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance with an investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation Program (CEP)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader
• Experience in an Agile/SAFe leadership role (Scrum Master, Product Owner, Release Train Engineer, e.g.)
• Experience managing and administrating large Windows Environments
• Experience with virtualization technologies like VMWare or HyperV
• Experience with containerization technologies
• Experience with Linux Distros like RHEL / CentOS
• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jira Management Service
• Experience with Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform.
• Experience with Powershell
• Experience with domain management / active directory
• Experience with Networking protocols and hardware
• Cloud management experience (AWS / Azure)
• Current DoD Top Secret Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $133,000.00 - $199,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
