Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for well qualified Principal/Sr Principal Electromechanical Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Hardware Engineering organization. This position is located in San Diego, CA. No Remote work is available for this position.
As a member of the electromechanical team, you will get to:
- Effectively use and/or apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to assigned tasks commensurate with engineering level
- Create/review/update engineering drawings, test reports, and procedure documents for all system variants including circuit boards, cables, and mechanical features
- Generate/update/review parts lists and act as liaison with global supply chain counterparts
- Maintain configuration and compliance with applicable quality, security, and industry standards
- Collaborate with peers in adjacent functions, including electrical and RF design, systems engineering, software engineering, drafting, supply chain management, and manufacturing.
- Develop technical solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
- Actively participate in team discussions by offering ideas and suggestions on how we can enhance the team and/or an individual’s ability to execute tasks, improve performance, and encourage innovation
- Make good judgment design decisions regarding individual tasks. i.e. minimizing rework and maximizing reuse of existing designs
- Make efficient use of time and resources by prioritizing tasks to meet commitments
- Professionally represent the organization while interacting with internal and external contacts.
- Communicate with senior personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between disciplines
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
- Bachelors degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Masters degree; or 1 year of experience with STEM PhD degree
- Have a fundamental understanding of heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and vibration
- Experience with hardware design and integration processes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office and CAD experience
- Demonstrated attention to detail, self-motivation, and self-regulation
- Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team
- Must be a US Citizen
- Clearance: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret clearance is required.
Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Electromechanical Engineer:
- Bachelors degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience, or 6 years of experience with a Masters degree; or 4 years of experience with STEM PhD degree
- Have a fundamental understanding of heat transfer, mechanics of materials, and vibration
- Experience with hardware design and integration processes
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office and CAD experience
- Demonstrated attention to detail, self-motivation, and self-regulation
- Demonstrated success working individually or as part of a team
- Must be a US Citizen
- Clearance: The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret clearance is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret/ SCI Security Clearance
- Experience with CATIA V5, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or Capital
- Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) standards within a CPLM framework
- Experience with hands on support to a production floor providing engineering sustainment support including but not limited to: disposition of nonconformances, RCCA analysis, implementation of ECRs/ECOs
- Applied electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing. Supports and participates in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
- Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary teams in fast-paced, high-demand environments
- Experience in mentoring junior engineers and facilitating knowledge transfer within teams
- Experience developing proposals
- Experience with the Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) process
- Experience with agile programs
- Knowledge of electronic components and their applications in communication systems.
This position is contingent upon clearance and business funding.
Primary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
