Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems division in Roy, UT is seeking a Senior Principal Test Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This position will be part of our Aerospace Vehicle Equipment (AVE) On Board Test Equipment (OBTE) team to plan and execute vehicle level integration, test and checkout activities supporting the Sentinel, formerly Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD), program.
What you’ll get to do:
- Define test requirements and test objectives, using Systems Engineering principles
- Develop integration and test documentation (test plans, test procedures and test reports)
- Prepare for and execute Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs)
- Execute the integration, test, and assembly of the AVE in preparation for developmental flight testing
- Integrate hardware from sub-system teams, interface with other elements teams, and the system and segment level teams
- Develop and implement testing methods and test equipment
- Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of integration and test activities
- Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external)
- Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware component
- Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements
- Maintain test equipment documentation and follow configuration management requirements
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Synthesizing customer contractual needs and requirements into element test solutions that acknowledges technical schedule and cost constraints
- Develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for completing subsystems
- Coordinate integrated testing activities
- Serve as a technical lead and mentor to junior engineers on the On board Test Equipment Team
- Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness of test program
- Perform technical analysis of complete systems and prepare comprehensive system level evaluations
- Oversee supplier test activities in support or requirement verification and validation
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
- Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Experience with development of test plans, procedures, and reports (functional testing and checkout)
- Experience with Software and/or Hardware testing experience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees, management and customers
- Works well in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- A current DoD Secret or Top Secret/SCI level security clearance, to include a Single Scope Background Investigation, a periodic reinvestigation, or an original adjudication date completed within the last 6 years
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
- Works well in a team environment
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Automated Test experience (development and execution). (LabView, Simulink, or equivalent)
- Experience designing and setting up a Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (SEIT) type test lab
- Experience overseeing supplier execution of dynamic and thermal environmental testing
- Experience design, test or handling ordnance equipment IAW RCC 319 or AIAA S-113A

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
