Northrop Grumman is currently seeking Engineering Manager 1 to lead a manufacturing team responsible for supporting the manufacture and delivery of Medium Caliber Ammunition or Warhead/Munitions to USG military as well as a commercial customer base. This position will reside and support the Defense Sector team in Elk River, MN.

As a strategic member of the Engineering leadership team, the Engineering Manager 1 is responsible for ensuring all activities in the given area of responsibility employ sound engineering processes to facilitate an efficient and high performing culture. The successful candidate will lead, coach, and direct engineering and technician team members in efforts which support business deliverables, strategic objectives, and growth of the team to increasingly higher levels of performance.

Role Description & Responsibilities:
· Provide daily guidance, direction, and performance feedback to a large group of technicians and engineers on manufacturing challenges of easy-to-complex difficulty.
· Set and promote high standards for Safety and Quality.

· Audit assembly areas to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed.
· Partner with engineering and program management peers to ensure a balanced and efficient assignment of resources to support all Programs and achievement in key performance metrics.
· Coach, support, and motivate team members to ensure a high level of performance.
· Initiate and lead continuous improvement activities which establish high quality and efficient manufacturing processes.
· Lead and/or oversee investigations and failure analyses related to product or process performance deficiencies to ensure definitive root causes are determined and corrective actions are implemented.
· Collaborate with peers and direct management in resource planning and hiring activities.
· Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, identify program opportunities for improvement and obtain solutions as applicable
· Conduct assessments of team members’ performance related to team and individual goals
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelors degree in a STEM field & 5+ years of related engineering experience
· 2+ years of project, program, or people leadership experience
· Strong mechanical skills and exposure to a manufacturing environment
· Ability to network and negotiate at all levels within an organization to accomplish objectives
· Strong leadership, influence, and project management skills
· Excellent communication skills – written and oral
· Strong knowledge of MS Office suite
· Must be able to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance. (US Citizenship Required)
Preferred Qualifications:
· 7+ years of related experience
· Ammunition design and/or manufacturing experience.
· Experience working directly with customers, vendors, and subcontractors.
· Prior experience with production of defense products and/or experience with Government technical agencies.
· Proven track record of effectively developing direct reports at various levels and disciplines to higher levels of performance and responsibility.
Primary Level Salary Range: $115,500.00 - $173,300.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
