Support maintenance efforts which comply with regulatory and other relevant standards. Implement and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Provide technical support for mechanical systems to ensure achievement of rig efficiency and client objectives. Provide specific focus on systems that will keep maintenance operations running effectively and avoid down time. Assist the Technical Supervisor / Technical Section Leader with effective maintenance procedures and ensure that the Noble Maintenance System is effectively utilized.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Recognized trade qualification from technical college/apprenticeship or equivalent preferred.
- 5+ years of mechanical maintenance experience.
- Completion of all training requirements for the position within designated time period.
- If working on DP Semi-submersibles, hold Flag State Maintenance Supervisor License.
- Experience in power and hydraulic systems is required.
- Experience reading mechanical drawings is required.
- Must have mechanical machinery inspection and repair knowledge.
- Complete understanding and use of the Noble Maintenance System.
- Superior troubleshooting, decision making and problem resolution skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to interact with diverse groups and operations, and to recognize and resolve conflict.
- Strong leadership skills and an ability to coach, motivate and mentor others and develop their skills and knowledge.
- Proficient in office applications and other systems required for the position.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Act as a lead in the Maintenance Department. Ensure safe and efficient operations on equipment, provide instruction on technical matters, identify training needs, provide effective feedback on work performance, and direct and coordinate crewmembers in the performance of work duties and priorities.
- Install, maintain and repair mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment onboard the rig. Ensure all mechanical maintenance is performed in accordance with Noble’s policies and procedures, equipment manufacturer’s recommendations, the Rig Operating Manual, as well as regulatory requirements and codes.
- Monitor repairs and rebuilds ensuring they are performed properly, safely and economically.
- If working on DP Semi-submersibles, responsible for the rig's maintenance system, including creation, distribution, assignment and verification of planned corrective work orders within the mechanical maintenance department.
- Oversee modifications to the equipment and structure, ensuring modifications of the rig and new equipment is approved according to Noble’s policies and procedures before operation.
- Maintain and amend rig drawings when modifications have been made to the structure, plant and equipment.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment, either directly or through subordinates.
- Perform daily visual inspections of equipment and diagnose actual and potential malfunctions. Ensure potential hazards and abnormal operating conditions are addressed quickly and that any deteriorating conditions are reported to the Rig Manager.
- Schedule, coordinate and monitor drills and periodic testing of equipment.
- Oversee and maintain the condition and calibration of test equipment.
- Initiate analysis and identify the root cause of failures on rig equipment and systems.
- Make decisions on repair priorities. Ensure that incomplete repairs and projects are finished within their scheduled time of completion in order to keep a backlog of work to a minimum.
- Prepare required work permits and risk assessments. Schedule inspection, maintenance, and repair duties. Work with other department personnel to schedule maintenance and repairs and to plan rig moves, regulatory inspections and other major activities.
- Maintain updated knowledge of mechanical systems and of safety requirements and regulations concerning the use and maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Ensure that equipment failure is kept to a minimum and within contractual limits.
- Ensure that entries on permits, isolation tags and logs accurately reflect the current status of equipment. Perform regular inspections of work sites and ensure the work is being done within the confines of the permit.
- Advise others of modifications, changes to procedures and/or frequencies which will improve the Noble Maintenance System and be in compliance with the Management of Change System on an ongoing basis.
- Ensure replacement parts are kept to an optimum level. Follow up with material that has been ordered for any equipment that is down or in need of repair.
- Communicate with rig management regarding any equipment or personnel concerns.
- Participate in daily departmental meetings at each shift change to discuss and inform personnel of safety and general issues concerning the maintenance department.
- Maintain good two-way communication with crew members.
- Participate in the development of newly appointed team members.
- Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained onboard the rig in all work areas.

HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
- Implement and uphold Noble's safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all operations proceed in a safe manner. Correct and notify responsible parties of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
- Encourage and motivate personnel to observe safety and environmental policies and all intended and implied requirements of Noble's Management System.
- Responsible for familiarizing and adhering to Noble's Live Safe Code for the purpose of promoting a zero-incident and no-harm workplace.
- Responsible for familiarizing and utilizing Noble's Hazard Identification Tool to manage risk created by various energy sources found in the workplace.
- Attend and actively participate in daily pre-tour and weekly safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements established in Noble's Management System.
- Initiate a safety stand down whenever an unplanned hazard or change in the expected results is observed.
- Perform all Safety Critical Tasks as detailed in the HSE Case.
- Incorporate the STOP the job planning process into all tasks, whether working alone or as part of a team.
- Take the initiative to perform emergency duties without specific orders or instruction.
- Develop and implement Job Safety Analysis and prepare hazard assessments as required.
- Responsible for compliance with all government regulations.
