The Product Merchandising organisation delivers intuitive merchandising and local expertise to make it easy and enjoyable for our members to find and choose what to watch now, and next.
We're building a Regional Merchandising team, and need a merchandising operations expert to run its technical execution engine.
This role sits within the APAC Product Merchandising team and owns the operational execution of country-specific and regional catalog merchandising strategies - turning strategy into collections and browsable pages on the Netflix app that help members find something great to watch, quickly. You'll need a deep understanding of our content, how our product UI and merchandising techniques work, and how to evolve them as we scale.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in content merchandising, catalog curation, and program management in app-based environments.
Be the operations partner to the APAC Product Merchandising team, translating regional and country-specific merchandising strategies into experiences that help make choosing content on Netflix delightful and easy.
Set up and configure regional merchandising tactics, experimentation (basic A/B testing), monitor for quality issues, flag discrepancies, and troubleshoot as needed.
Ensure merchandising execution stays aligned with defined strategies across markets.
Apply a deep understanding of the content Netflix produces and licenses to organise the catalog effectively.
Execute and configure the eligibility logic and rules for collections & pages, working with Local/ Regional Merchandising partners to develop new rules as needed
Accountable for on-time delivery of merchandising tactics and programs - bringing in the right partners, tracking deliverables, and maintaining operational timelines.
Monitor activation ‘launch health’ and elevate issues as needed.
Curation and Catalog Evaluation
A nuanced understanding of movies, TV shows, or gaming and can surface thematic connections and relationships between titles
Experience in metadata classification is highly beneficial
Strong editorial judgment and creativity that can translate to creating compelling multi-title collections that resonate with target audiences
Skilled in content evaluation and data analysis to draw insights and make data-driven recommendations
General knowledge of information architecture, metadata and taxonomy concepts
Program Management
Skilled at translating business and product merchandising strategies into tactical solutions and deliverables
Demonstrated ability to tackle large-scale and complex projects at an elevated level of execution
Can develop repeatable frameworks and processes for consistent, efficient, and high-quality program delivery
Comfortable with detailed, hands-on execution, while still keeping the broader vision in mind.
Can manage multiple projects simultaneously, in a dynamic environment.
Tooling and Tech
Comfortable working with and analysing large datasets to derive actionable insights
General experience working with enterprise systems and integrations across tools
Can quickly grasp new tech and digital product concepts
Communication and Collaboration
Strong written and verbal communication skills; can present complex concepts and processes to partner teams in a digestible format
Good judgment on how and when to set context and bring in partners
Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across geographies, timezones and cultures - and effectively influence and contribute with concrete recommendations/next steps, across both local, regional and global teams
Able to confidently represent a capability, team or org in a room with cross-functional groups
General
7+ years of experience in content merchandising operations, catalog curation, program management, or related fields
Deep knowledge of Korean, Japanese, or Indian entertainment industry trends
Fluent in English and either ideally one other APAC language
Understanding of the product development processes
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with ambiguity
Experience in app-based environments is highly desired
Excellent organisational and project management skills a must
Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and drive alignment amid ambiguity
Comfortable applying a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to define success
Insatiable curiosity to learn new domains, keep up with industry innovation, and constantly ask ‘why’
