Job Profile
The Linux & Platform Engineer is responsible for managing and optimizing enterprise Unix/Linux infrastructure supporting mission-critical banking systems. This role combines deep Linux administration expertise with platform engineering, automation, and production operations to ensure high availability, security, and performance across complex environments.
This role operates in the Singapore Time zone.
Job Responsibilities:
Linux Platform Engineering
- Lead the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise Linux and Unix platforms, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), AIX, CentOS, and Debian environments.
- Manage the end-to-end platform lifecycle, including provisioning, patch management, upgrades, performance optimization, kernel tuning, and security hardening in accordance with organizational standards.
- Design, implement, and support highly available and resilient platform architectures leveraging clustering technologies such as Pacemaker.
- Drive platform stability, scalability, and capacity management initiatives to support mission-critical business services and infrastructure growth.
- Establish and maintain operational standards, governance controls, and technical documentation across Linux and Unix environments.
Platform & Infrastructure Management
- Manage and support enterprise container platforms, including OpenShift and Kubernetes, ensuring secure, reliable, and scalable application hosting services.
- Administer virtualization and private cloud platforms, including VMware vSphere and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) technologies such as Nutanix and VxRail.
- Support enterprise storage services, including object storage platforms and S3-compatible solutions.
- Oversee backup, recovery, and resiliency capabilities through Commvault and related disaster recovery technologies.
- Implement proactive monitoring, event management, and service observability capabilities to ensure platform availability and operational excellence.
- Integrate and maintain enterprise monitoring and analytics platforms, including Dynatrace, Zabbix, Netcool, Splunk, and Grafana.
- Lead infrastructure transformation, modernization, and data center migration initiatives across regional and global environments.
Automation, DevSecOps & Platform Modernization
- Drive infrastructure automation and configuration management through Ansible Automation Platform (AAP), scripting, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
- Develop and integrate CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains, including Bitbucket, Nexus Repository, and related automation platforms.
- Champion continuous improvement and automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, platform reliability, and service delivery.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, security, and architecture teams to implement modern platform engineering and DevSecOps practices.
Operations, Governance & Risk Management
- Ensure operational excellence through proactive system monitoring, performance management, logging strategy, and data lifecycle governance.
- Operate within established ITIL-based service management frameworks, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management processes.
- Maintain compliance with enterprise security policies, regulatory requirements, and technology risk controls applicable to the banking and financial services sector.
- Provide leadership during major incidents, driving timely resolution, root cause analysis, and continuous service improvement.
- Manage and support security technologies, including Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), privileged infrastructure controls, and database activity monitoring solutions such as IBM Guardium.
- Support internal and external audits by maintaining appropriate governance, evidence, documentation, and operational controls.
Job Requirements:
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise Linux/Unix infrastructure administration, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
- Experience operating and supporting large-scale, mission-critical, highly regulated technology environments.
Technical Expertise
- Deep technical expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and enterprise Linux platform administration.
- Strong hands-on experience managing OpenShift and Kubernetes container platforms.
- Proven experience with infrastructure automation, configuration management, and orchestration using Ansible Automation Platform and scripting languages such as Python.
- Solid understanding of virtualization, private cloud, hyper-converged infrastructure, storage, and backup technologies.
- Experience administering monitoring, observability, and logging platforms including Dynatrace, Splunk, Zabbix, Grafana, and related enterprise tools.
- Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and platform resiliency architectures.
Governance & Leadership
- Strong understanding of ITIL service management principles and operational governance frameworks.
- Familiarity with technology risk management, cybersecurity controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards applicable to financial institutions.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on service reliability and operational resilience.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across business, technology, and executive stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, mentor technical teams, and drive strategic platform modernization programs.
