Job Summary:
As a Global Facilities Technology Team (GFTT) Chemical and Slurry Systems Engineer at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible to provide high quality engineering services and specifications for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of your field specific Facilities systems in support of semiconductor manufacturing across the Micron Global Manufacturing Network. You will participate in capacity and scenario planning across the network and evaluate impacts to Facilities systems driven by technology changes in device fabrication. In this role, you will support the Facilities Teams and Manufacturing sites across the network as a domain expert through all phases of design, construction, installation, start-up, operations and maintenance and will ensure environmental, safety, regulatory, and code compliance.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
Design and Plan Systems and Buildings -
Provide system designs for safe operations and maintenance of Chemical and Slurry systems.
Develop, review, and maintain the equipment and component specifications and standards for the corporation.
Ensure materials of construction are compatible with chemicals used (i.e. source container, tanks, pumps, and distribution).
Ensure designs align with all applicable standards, codes, and regulations.
Review the capacity planning databases (with Base Build capacities, POC assignments, and actual field conditions) across the network and validating utilization and diversity factor assumptions.
Review and advise sites on periodic system status presentations (system capacity, actual load, and projected loads based on all approved scenarios, key system accomplishments, and challenges/issues).
Assist sites with the evaluation system and distribution capacity impacts based on scenario changes as requested.
Review and advise on scope for facilities infrastructure additions or modifications.
Provide Project Support -
Provide Micron specifications and standards to Design Firms and review detailed designs and specifications for the installation of new facilities infrastructure.
Provide support for cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval.
Provide supervision and coordination of consultant resources required.
Ensure appropriate communication with local facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement and manufacturing partners as the need arises to deliver project objectives.
Be responsible for the timely review of design packages and provide detailed comments and feedback as necessary.
Work with appropriate personnel to address problems or make corrections.
Ensure project scope meets needs of the requestor(s).
Ensure change management procedures are followed.
Supervise progress and provide engineering and design support during construction as the need arises per project if necessary.
Provide Technical Support, Leadership, and Expertise -
Provide consultation and support to Operations and Maintenance and Manufacturing as Technical Field Domain Expert.
Analyze system designs to identify improvements that will result in better performance, efficiency gains, reduced maintenance, and cost savings.
Support sites with problem analysis using standard tools and methodologies as requested.
Provide Technical leadership and support to Procurement group on vendor qualifications, Vendor Selection and negotiations as needed.
Conduct risk and failure mode and effects (FMEA) analyses.
Eliminate single points of failure and mitigate risk within the Design process.
Benchmark within and external to Micron sites on engineering and design BKMs of Facilities buildings and systems.
Own and maintain Corporate Facility documents (Standard process guidelines, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Chemical Engineering or Bioengineering
At least 8 years of experience in the semiconductor industry with chemical and slurry experience
Have experience in designing and building for the construction for chemical and slurry facilities in the semiconductor industry
Self-motivated with the ability to travel 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently
Strong organizational and customer-focused skills
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Additional Job Details:
Plans facilities changes for plant, office, and production equipment layouts, working toward economy of operation, maximum use of facilities and equipment, and compliance with laws and regulations. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation and other related costs. Inspects construction and installation progress for conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules. Develops criteria and performance specifications required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
