This role serves as a Lead Integration Engineer, responsible for architecting enterprise applications, modern employee experience, and scalable platform capabilities. You will lead the evolution of Mastercard's Workday platform through Workday Extend, AI, automation, APIs, and modern application development.
Role
• Lead the architecture, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and support of enterprise applications using Workday Extend.
• Architect scalable solutions leveraging Workday Extend, Orchestrate, APIs, Studio, Core Connectors, EIBs, and Workday Web Services.
• Design reusable application frameworks, shared services, and engineering patterns that accelerate platform delivery.
• Define technical architecture, security models, development standards, and engineering best practices across the Workday platform.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, and Business teams to deliver scalable, secure, and modern employee solutions.
• Lead delivery activities within Agile engineering teams, partnering with Product Owners and stakeholders to prioritize work, refine requirements, support backlog management, participate in sprint planning, and drive iterative delivery of Workday platform capabilities.
• Promote Agile engineering practices and continuous improvement through effective planning, estimation, retrospectives, delivery metrics, and operational excellence.
• Balance strategic platform initiatives, technical debt reduction, operational support, and feature delivery to maximize business value, platform stability, and engineering efficiency.
• Analyze and optimize Workday business processes, integration workflows, and platform delivery processes to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and enhance employee experiences.
• Identify workflow bottlenecks and opportunities for automation, leveraging Workday, AI, integrations, and reusable services to streamline end-to-end business processes.
• Establish repeatable engineering and operational workflows utilizing automation, observability, reusable components, and standardized development practices to improve platform reliability, scalability, and delivery speed.
• Evaluate emerging Workday capabilities and prototype innovative solutions that advance Mastercard's HR technology strategy.
• Lead architecture reviews, code reviews, technical governance, and engineering quality across multiple teams.
• Drive platform modernization through AI, automation, observability, reusable components, and operational excellence.
• Support critical production issues, root cause analysis, and continuous platform improvement.
All About You
• Extensive hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Workday platform.
• Strong proficiency/understanding of Workday Extend architecture, application lifecycle, security, user experience, and platform capabilities.
• Strong experience with Workday Integrations including Studio, Orchestrate, Core Connectors, EIBs, APIs, and Workday Web Services.
• Advanced experience with REST APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, XSLT, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience defining enterprise architecture, reusable frameworks, engineering standards, and platform best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to solve complex technical and business challenges.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading enterprise technical initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience with CI/CD, automation, AI-assisted development, monitoring, and modern software engineering practices.
• Workday Extend certification and Workday Integration certifications strongly preferred.
• Passion for innovation, platform engineering, continuous learning, and driving technical excellence..
• Experience working in Agile software delivery environments, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, estimation, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement practices.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing initiatives, balance strategic and operational work, and deliver high-quality solutions within Agile frameworks.
• Experience evaluating and improving business processes, integration workflows, and operational procedures through automation, platform engineering, and process optimization best practices.
• Proven ability to identify workflow inefficiencies, develop scalable automation solutions, and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, reliability, and employee experience.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $122,000 - $207,000 USD
