SCOPE: The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, increasing machine efficiency, reducing and eliminating waste, and leading capital improvement projects that support the company’s operational vision and culture of excellence and strategic goals. This position applies Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies, the use of employee collaboration, and engineering best practices to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance. This role partners with Safety, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Programming, Supply Chain, and leadership to identify opportunities and implement sustainable process improvements.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related degree
- 1-3 years industrial experience (Experience and/or training in safe work environments, capital improvement, and maintaining compliance with ISO standards)
- Excellent cross-departmental communication skills, verbal and written
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Green Belt Certification preferred
- Experience in leading Continuous Improvement events/capital projects
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)
- CAD software experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventory, or similar) preferred
- Exposure to CNC machining, automation, or precision manufacturing preferred
- Understanding of GD&T and manufacturing drawings
- Familiarity with ISO 9001
- Ability to travel to other locations, as needed
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitate VAVE (Value added value engineering) and LEAN projects to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and eliminate waste.
- Lead lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen Events, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, and Visual Management.
- Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness, machine utilization, downtime, scrap, and throughput to drive predictive maintenance processes.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and cross-functional communication.
- Monitor statistical reporting and all KPI’s to drive preventative actions.
- Work with the shop leads on day-to-day Continuous Improvement projects (PDCA Boards).
- Analyze current production floor plan and work towards in-lining the material flow (equipment placement and space requirements to maximize efficiency).
- Ensure that project schedules are developed and targets are reached.
- Evaluate manufacturing capacity and develop recommendations for future growth.
- Create manufacturing work instructions, process documentations, and SOPs.
- Collaborate with Quality to reduce defects and improve process capability.
- Support new product introductions by developing efficient manufacturing processes, including work holding, fixturing, tooling, and programs.
- Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams and empower employees to achieve Lean results.
- Track and report continuous improvement savings.
- Maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
- Self-driven and goal oriented.
- Problem solving and analysis abilities through the utilization of root cause analysis tools.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Standing for more than 1 hour, walking more than 100 ft., reach above, at or below shoulders, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and/or squat, grasping, hand/wrist twisting, lifting of up to 50lbs.
