What We Are Looking For
Marmon/Keystone is currently recruiting for the position of Quality Assurance Specialist based out of our Norcross, GA facility. The Quality Specialist serves as the site-level quality representative responsible for supporting daily quality operations, process compliance, problem-solving, and continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing and distribution environment. This role works closely with Operations, Quality & APQP Engineering, Supply Chain, and Customer Service to ensure product conformity, customer satisfaction, and adherence to established quality management system requirements.
The Quality Specialist provides "boots-on-the-ground" quality leadership by supporting warehouse operations, processing equipment, fabrication cells, and customer-specific requirements while advancing Built-In Quality (BIQ) principles throughout the facility.
This position is primarily shop-floor based and requires routine interaction with machine operators, warehouse associates, supervisors, and support personnel. Limited travel may be required for training, audits, and support activities.
What You Will Do
Quality Operations & Compliance
- Manage control of nonconforming material, claims-tag inventory, segregation, containment, and disposition activities.
- Support material review board (MRB) activities and disposition recommendations.
- Validate customer returns and support root cause investigations.
- Issue supplier claims and coordinates corrective action activities.
- Support calibration program execution and gage control activities.
- Perform layered process audits, BIQ audits, and warehouse process audits.
- Conduct product and process verification activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or facilitate root cause investigations related to internal defects, customer complaints, and supplier quality issues.
- Support corrective and preventive action implementation and verification.
- Issue quality alerts and communicate lessons learned across the facility.
- Participate in Lean, Continuous Improvement, and Built-In Quality initiatives.
- Support reduction of COPQ, rework, scrap, and customer claims.
Customer & Supplier Quality Support
- Support customer audits, supplier audits, and quality system assessments.
- Assist with First Article Inspections (FAIs), PPAPs, ISIRs, and customer validation requirements.
- Review customer specifications, drawings, and quality requirements.
- Support customer-specific quality initiatives and containment activities.
Advanced Inspection & Metrology Support
- Perform dimensional inspections using handheld measurement equipment and advanced metrology systems.
- Support setup verification and in-process inspections for critical and special characteristics.
- Utilize portable CMM and FARO Arm technology where applicable.
- Assist with inspection planning and measurement method development.
Inventory & Process Support
- Perform inventory stock checks and quality verification activities.
- Support timely disposition of quarantined and nonconforming inventory.
- Assist operations teams in improving throughput and reducing quality-related bottlenecks.
- Support ERP and master-data quality initiatives as required.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
Required
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, or related discipline; equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, metals processing, distribution, or related industrial environment.
- Working knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret specifications.
- Proficiency with standard inspection equipment and measurement techniques.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on shop-floor environment.
Preferred
- Experience in a metals service center, fabrication, machining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
- Experience supporting OEM customers and customer-specific requirements.
- Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FAI, ISIR, and root cause methodologies.
- Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt certification or demonstrated continuous improvement experience.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Routine presence within warehouse environment with required use of PPE including safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, hearing protection, and other site-specific safety equipment.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform inspections throughout the facility.
- Occasional lifting of inspection equipment and product samples.
