Overview

LMI is building a secure mission data platform for the U.S. Army. We are seeking a Staff Data Engineer to own the design and delivery of the data pipelines and data products that power it.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for an engineer who can make architectural decisions, build production systems, and raise the technical standard of the broader team.

Responsibilities

Own the architecture and implementation of scalable data pipelines and data products.
Integrate data from distributed repositories, applications, and enterprise systems.
Design for data quality, lineage, security, observability, and long-term maintainability.
Establish engineering standards for testing, source control, deployment, and operations.
Work across platform, security, software, and mission teams to deliver production capability.
Review technical designs, mentor engineers, and resolve complex integration challenges.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Eight or more years of experience building production data systems.
Strong proficiency with Python, SQL, and modern data-engineering patterns.
Experience designing data pipelines and services in cloud or distributed environments.
Strong software-engineering fundamentals, including testing, source control, CI/CD, and operational monitoring.
Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of complex data capabilities.
Experience supporting a Department of Defense customer.
Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting the U.S. Army.
Experience with AWS or another large-scale cloud platform.
Familiarity with Palantir Foundry, Army Vantage, or comparable data platforms.
Experience integrating enterprise content repositories and legacy systems.
Familiarity with distributed processing, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps.

Target salary range: $101,000 - 174,000
