Job Title: Sr. Construction Manager - Brownfield – Offshore Water Injection Project
KBR Abu Dhabi is currently seeking an experienced Sr. Construction Manager to join its PMC team supporting a major Offshore Project in the UAE. The role will initially be based in Abu Dhabi, transitioning subsequently to the fabrication yard, and later mobilizing to the offshore site during the execution and commissioning phases
Job Purpose
The Sr. Construction Manager – Brownfield is responsible for leading and managing all offshore construction activities associated with brownfield modifications, tie-ins, shutdown works, and facility upgrades for the Offshore Water Injection Project. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely execution of construction activities within live operating facilities while maintaining strict compliance with ADNOC requirements, project specifications, HSE standards, and quality objectives.
The position serves as the focal point between Engineering, Operations, Construction Contractors, Commissioning, and Client teams to ensure successful project delivery with minimal disruption to ongoing offshore operations.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Management & Leadership
- Lead all offshore brownfield construction activities from site mobilization through mechanical completion.
- Develop and implement Construction Execution Plans, methodologies, and resource strategies.
- Manage construction teams, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.
- Ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures.
- Monitor construction progress against project schedules and milestones.
- Provide leadership in resolving site issues and construction constraints.
Brownfield Modification Management
- Manage execution of brownfield modifications within operational offshore facilities.
- Oversee tie-ins, facility upgrades, equipment replacements, and piping modifications.
- Coordinate shutdown and turnaround construction activities.
- Ensure implementation of approved Management of Change (MOC) requirements.
- Minimize operational disruptions while maintaining project objectives.
- Verify readiness of work fronts prior to execution.
Offshore Construction Execution
- Supervise installation of:
- Water Injection Systems
- Process and Utility Piping
- Static and Rotating Equipment
- Structural Modifications
- Electrical Systems
- Instrumentation and Control Systems
- Monitor productivity, construction quality, and adherence to project requirements.
- Ensure work packs, drawings, specifications, and permits are available before execution.
Shutdown & Tie-In Management
- Plan and manage critical shutdown activities.
- Develop construction sequences for tie-ins and facility integration.
- Coordinate shutdown schedules with Operations and Project Management teams.
- Ensure efficient execution within limited shutdown windows.
- Monitor critical path activities and implement recovery plans as required.
SIMOPS Coordination
- Manage construction activities within live operating facilities.
- Coordinate SIMOPS (Simultaneous Operations) with Operations, Maintenance, and Commissioning teams.
- Ensure effective communication of worksite hazards and operational restrictions.
- Participate in SIMOPS risk assessments and planning meetings.
- Implement control measures to mitigate interface risks.
HSE Management
- Champion a strong safety culture across all construction activities.
- Ensure compliance with ADNOC HSE requirements, company procedures, and project safety plans.
- Lead site HSE inspections, audits, and safety reviews.
- Monitor Permit-to-Work (PTW) compliance and Control of Work implementation.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action reviews.
- Support achievement of Zero LTI and project HSE targets.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Monitor inspection and testing activities.
- Review and approve construction quality documentation.
- Manage non-conformance reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.
- Support Mechanical Completion and system handover processes.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
- Act as the primary construction interface with Client, Operations, Engineering, and Commissioning teams.
- Lead construction coordination meetings and progress reviews.
- Manage contractor performance, productivity, and compliance.
- Resolve technical and operational issues affecting project execution.
- Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.
Pre-Commissioning & Handover Support
- Coordinate construction completion and turnover activities.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning teams.
- Ensure punch list items are identified, tracked, and closed.
- Verify systems are ready for Mechanical Completion and commissioning.
- Facilitate smooth handover to Operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
- Master's Degree is advantageous.
- PMP or Project Management certification preferred.
- Professional Engineering registration is desirable.
Experience
- 25+ years of Oil & Gas project experience.
- Minimum 10 years in senior construction management roles.
- Extensive offshore brownfield EPC project experience.
- Proven experience managing shutdowns, tie-ins, and modifications within live operating facilities.
- Strong background in offshore water injection, production, and utility systems.
- ADNOC Offshore experience is highly preferred.
- Experience leading large multidisciplinary construction teams on offshore facilities and artificial islands.
