Job Summary
The SPO Systems Engineer & Technical Integrator delivers critical system-of-systems analysis, architecture validation, and tactical integration support to the SPO Program Office. This role is the primary technical bridge ensuring our systems interoperate seamlessly with government, contractor, and external C2 networks (e.g., IBCS, FAAD). The selected candidate will architect field integration events, troubleshoot network and datalink connectivity, and serve as the on-site SPO integration authority during critical Developmental (DT) and Operational (OT) events.
Key Responsibilities
1. System-of-Systems Integration & Execution
- Lead Field Integration: Serve as the primary Integration Authority on-site; prepare, execute, and validate sensor-to-shooter interoperability and tactical network connectivity for all SPO products.
- Architecture Configuration: Configure STARE test articles, routing protocols, and tactical datalinks. Ensure seamless data flow and message translation (e.g., C2-RES, IBCS A::B, ASTERIX) across complex, multi-node test architectures.
- Range Agency Liaison: Coordinate directly with external test agencies (e.g., ATEC, AEC, DOT&E) to ensure SPO integration requirements and network specifications are embedded into overarching agency test plans.
- Operational Tempo: Active integration phases require rapid adaptability, extended hours on remote test ranges, and a 24/7 readiness posture to troubleshoot complex network or hardware communication failures in real-time.
- Test Range Environments: Expect field time at test ranges (e.g., WSMR, YPG) in varying weather conditions, with ability to lift up to 40 lbs to assist with tactical equipment and network setup/teardown.
2. Systems Engineering & Lifecycle Interoperability
- Advisory & Interface Control: Participate in system design reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs). Act as the authority on Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Requirement Analysis: Identify, evaluate, and advocate for interoperability and networking requirements to be integrated into future software and hardware baselines.
- Technical Reviews: Analyze system specifications, software problem reports (PRs), and Prime Contractor New Equipment Training (NET) materials with a focus on integration workflows.
- Tactical Integration Planning: Lead integration taskers and test development involving complex tactical Command and Control (C2) configurations, network layouts, and network compliant software architectures across various environments.
3. Operational Range Support (CONUS/OCONUS)
- Multi-Range Deployments: Deploy to key test ranges (WSMR, YPG, Eglin AFB) to establish network baselines and support live integration events, including Foreign Military Sales (FMS) training.
- Integration Dry-Runs: Conduct and lead communication dry-runs and data collection events with personnel prior to live-fire phases to validate ATEC/AEC/DOT&E network emplacement and sensor integration.
- Data Security & Logistics: Coordinate the secure collection, distribution, and transport of classified integration data. Ensure proper teardown and network sanitization of government equipment between sites.
- Status Reporting: Generate and submit comprehensive daily pass-down reports detailing integration status, network health, and software anomalies during live events.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) paired with 5+ years of hands-on experience in military system integration, test, and evaluation (T&E).
- An active Secret Security clearance or the ability to obtain one which requires US Citizenship
- Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS to support field operations and tactical setups.
