Job responsibilities
- Execute independent quality reviews to confirm adherence to standards, methodology, timelines, and documentation expectations.
- Assist in planning and executing targeted, risk-based quality and data reviews.
- Evaluate test plans and end-to-end testing documentation for completeness, consistency, and defensibility (e.g., objectives, sampling approach, test steps, evidence, results, and conclusions).
- Validate that evidence is sufficient, appropriate, traceable, and sourced from authoritative records; challenge incomplete or unreliable evidence and recommend remediation actions.
- Assess data reliability and integrity, the validity of conclusions, and the appropriateness of assumptions.
- Evaluate control design and operating effectiveness and identify control coverage gaps or execution deficiencies.
- Identify and communicate potential key issues, trends, recurring themes, and process/control weaknesses; support root-cause analysis and recommendations.
- Review issues/exceptions for clear condition, criteria, cause, impact, and scope; support validation of severity/ratings where applicable.
- Support issue validation testing and closure decisions by confirming remediation evidence and retesting results meet standards and documentation expectations.
- Partner with testing teams to leverage internal data sources (systems of record, reports, reconciliations) to improve evidence collection efficiency.
- Communicate review outcomes through timely feedback, clear status updates, and escalation of high-risk concerns; contribute to calibration and coaching.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor’s degree (business, information technology, or related field) or equivalent related experience.
- Experience in financial services risk, compliance, audit, operational risk, operations, or business control management.
- Demonstrated ability to perform assessments, evaluations, or quality reviews.
- Working knowledge of internal control concepts and operational risk drivers.
- Strong analytical skills, including ability to identify themes/trends and support root-cause analysis.
- Ability to evaluate end-to-end processes and controls and identify gaps/risks in the operating environment.
- High standards for documentation quality and attention to detail.
- Strong stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under changing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Ability to use data, reporting, or dashboard outputs to support review conclusions.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with control testing activities (e.g., substantive testing, control evaluations, issue validation testing).
- Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) or stress testing review concepts (where applicable).
- Experience assessing evidence sufficiency and traceability and challenging unsupported conclusions.
- Experience using analytics/automation tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau, Python) to support review outcomes.
- Relevant training or certifications aligned to the role (as required).
