Derivative Operations provides operational support across Commercial Investment Bank covering key product areas including FX, OTC Derivatives, Principal Collateral, 3rd Party Derivatives, Cleared Derivatives, Agency Collateral, Billing and CASS.
As a Senior Associate in Collateral Operations as a part of Derivative Operations, you will be responsible for margin call management, dispute resolution, and daily collateral controls supporting OTC and cleared derivatives activity. You will deliver strong regulatory adherence across upcoming and evolving requirements (e.g., CFTC, EMIR, NCMR) while partnering closely with Middle Office, Credit Risk, VCG, Operations, and Technology teams. You will drive continuous improvement by reducing breaks through root-cause analysis, strengthening controls, and supporting strategic automation and change delivery.
Job Responsibilities :
- Manage collateral disputes through investigation, stakeholder engagement, escalation, and timely resolution.
- Execute daily margin exchange activities, ensuring same-day settlement, accurate processing, and exception management.
- Perform supervisory control checks around collateral exposure, including monitoring, evidence capture, and remediation tracking.
- Investigate MTM breaks and data quality issues, coordinating resolution with Middle Office, Credit Risk, VCG, and upstream teams.
- Drive root-cause deep dives on recurring exceptions, implementing fixes that reduce future breaks and operational risk.
- Lead regulatory compliance execution across applicable frameworks, supporting readiness activities and ongoing governance requirements.
- Deliver cross-LOB metrics and support BAU and strategic initiatives, including UAT coordination and automation projects, with clear senior management updates.
Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities :
- Graduate or Post-Graduate with 8+ years of operations experience, or CA or MBA with 9+ years of operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of a global bank operational environment, including management and external reporting, with solid understanding of Investment Banking and OTC products, processes, and system workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically while operating hands-on, with strong attention to detail and disciplined execution of initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word) and working knowledge of Access and Project.
Preferred qualifications, skills, and capabilities :
- Knowledge of CFTC, EMIR, and NCMR regulatory requirements and their operational impacts.
- Experience supporting collateral management, margining, and reconciliations in an Investment Banking environment
- Exposure to OTC confirmations and upstream/downstream dependencies impacting valuations, margin calls, and disputes.
- Proven experience driving process improvement, control enhancement, or automation initiatives within an Operations function.
