We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within the Commodities Technology team of the Commercial & Investment Bank, you will design and deliver robust Java backend services that support high-throughput trading and data workflows across global markets. Based in Tampa, you will contribute to a distributed engineering team building scalable, cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS, Kafka, and Oracle — ensuring the reliability and performance of systems that traders and business stakeholders depend on daily. You will bring hands-on backend engineering depth and a collaborative mindset to a team that values clean architecture, operational excellence, and responsible innovation. This is an opportunity to deepen your technical expertise while making a measurable impact on systems that operate at the intersection of technology and global finance.
Job responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Java backend services and APIs using Spring Framework, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across commodities trading workflows
- Build and optimize event-driven data pipelines using Apache Kafka to support real-time data streaming and messaging between distributed systems
- Develop and maintain Oracle database integrations, writing efficient SQL for data querying, modeling, and operational support
- Architect and deploy cloud-native solutions on AWS, applying best practices for scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency
- Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity — including code generation, refactoring, unit test creation, and documentation — while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards
- Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized through automation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including front-office technology, data engineering, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable, maintainable solutions
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint-based delivery cycles, supporting continuous integration and deployment practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across multi-layered distributed systems, applying root cause analysis to improve system resilience and prevent recurrence
- Gather, analyze, and draw conclusions from large, diverse data sets to identify problems and contribute to decision-making in service of secure, stable application development
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability using Java and Spring Framework
