Lead Software Engineer: Hybrid Platformization
JPMorgan ChaseWe have an opportunity to impact your career and provide an adventure where you can push the limits of what's possible.
As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the CONSUMER & COMMUNITY BANKING, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
You will help shape modern, cloud-based technology that supports how our customers save, spend, and manage their money. You will join a collaborative engineering team where your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and you can push the limits of what’s possible. You will work on products that must be secure, resilient, and built for scale—delivering real impact for customers and the firm.
As a Lead Software Engineer (Hybrid Platformization), you will operate across current-state delivery and future-state platformization. You will embed within an existing legacy product team to support ongoing builds, production deployments/support, and operational stability, while translating existing journeys, workflows, and integrations into platform patterns (workflow/orchestration + UI components + reusable “steps”).
This role is future-state leaning: you will help shift delivery from bespoke implementations to reusable workflow/UI “golden paths” and standardized integration adapters, while maintaining the engineering rigor required to run and evolve current production services.
Job responsibilities
- Design and deliver secure, high-quality software solutions that solve complex problems and improve customer and business outcomes.
- Drive solution design and engineering execution across multiple components and services; perform thorough code reviews to improve maintainability, reliability, and team standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the software stack, including participating in production support and incident resolution when needed.
- Apply prompt engineering techniques to reliably produce high-quality outputs (structured prompts, constraints, decomposition, iteration, and validation/evaluation prompting).
- Create reusable workflow/orchestration templates and UI components (“golden paths”) to accelerate MVP delivery and enable consistent external-user experiences.
- Implement thin-slice journeys in partnership with product teams as platform-native builds (UI + workflow + orchestration + integrations).
- Create repeatable integration adapters and templates that allow platformization apps/workflows to call existing APIs consistently.
- Define contract patterns for integrations (versioning, error handling, retries, idempotency where applicable) to keep contracts stable and reduce bespoke integrations.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to wrap services as low-code steps and reduce one-off integrations.
- Produce reference implementations (example workflows/steps/components) and ensure they are easy for other teams to adopt (documentation, examples, and enablement sessions/office hours).
- Collaborate with quality/release engineering stakeholders to ensure the demo-to-production path is short through repeatable testing patterns and production-shaped designs.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied software engineering experience (Java and Spring-based frameworks) with hands-on system design, application development, testing, and operational support/stability.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service contracts.
- Working knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data modeling and performance considerations.
- Experience with distributed systems and at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Strong engineering fundamentals; ability to build UI + backend workflows/orchestrations and deliver production-grade code with strong review discipline.
- Familiarity with secure-by-default development for external-user flows.
- Experience with low-code/no-code platforms or workflow engines; accessibility-aware UI development
- Strong API design and integration engineering background; experience creating reusable libraries/templates to standardize adoption.
- Experience building adapters/façades and integration patterns; contract-first thinking (versioning, reliability, error taxonomy).
- Experience with digital identity journeys and external-user flows.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
- Foundational understanding of Identity and Access Management coupled with experience building/designing digital identity journeys and external-user flows).
- Proficient in prompt engineering and in operationalizing AI-assisted workflows safely (reviews, controls, and repeatable patterns).
- Experience creating reusable workflow/orchestration templates and reusable UI components that accelerate delivery across multiple teams.
- Strong API design and integration engineering background; experience creating reusable libraries/templates to standardize adoption.
- Experience building adapters/façades and integration patterns; contract-first thinking (versioning, reliability, error taxonomy).
- Ability to define and decompose thin-slice user journeys into implementable outcomes and produce clear acceptance criteria/success metrics that reduce rework.
- Demonstrated experience using Claude Code and other firm-approved AI tools to accelerate development (code generation/refactoring, test creation, documentation).
