As a Computer Operator for the CIO Hybrid Cloud Z IT Operations team, you will maintain, support and help to enhance the mission-critical mainframe systems which support IBM’s key internal applications. You will have opportunities to learn about other technologies, such as Linux and OpenShift on Z, and the observability tools which drive our automation. In the longer term this role could lead to positions elsewhere in IBM consulting, Z engineering, product development and more! This role is located mostly remote with occasional office attendance in Hortolandia, so candidates should be located within a reasonable commuting distance. There is no relocation offered. You will use tools such as the Z console, Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS), Jira and ServiceNow. You will receive extensive structured training and have the opportunity to certify on the solutions we support. A typical day may include: • Learning new skills and enhancing existing ones through our training plan. Later in your career at IBM you, like all employees, will be required to complete at least 40 hours of training each year, earning badges, certifications and qualifications. • Working with experienced operators on one or more of the five teams in Operations, monitoring and controlling the operation of the mainframe hardware and software; • Starting and stopping system tasks, monitoring the system consoles for unusual conditions, and working with the system programming and production control staff to ensure the health and normal operation of the systems; • Making sure that batch workloads run to completion— without error or delay; • Analyzing first-level problems for all systems, resolving and routing as appropriate, supporting the systems management processes specific to requirements; • Attending team standups or cross-functional interactions • Using IBM’s Slack channels to interact with other colleagues across the company on business, technical and social topics • Technical background (IT infrastructure and operational systems) • Previous experience in support environments • Customer relationship skills • Degree in an IT area or equivalent experience (computer science, information security, systems analysis, etc.) • Availability to work on the 2ndd Shift (4:00 PM to 1:00 AM) including alternate weekends. • Good communication, teamwork, interest in learning new technologies. • Competence in spoken and written English • Programming Languages: JCL, REXX, Python/YAML, SQL, others would be considered a plus • Understanding of software architectures or of infrastructure such as X86 • Knowledge of Network technologies • Experience in working with global teams, with people from several locations. • Autonomy to work with minimal supervision, targeting to achieve agreed-upon goals and with innovative mindset. • zOS concepts – any hands-on experience would be great, but NOT required Brazil Infrastructure & Technology Entry Level Multiple Cities
