Job Purpose
The role requires the individual to lead the Global Trade Solutions (GTS) team which reports directly to CEO and Head of Banking in Vietnam on an entity basis and to Regional Head of SEA Cluster, GTS on a functional basis. The team consist of staff across Sales, Operations, Product, Risk, Implementation and Client Services. The scope of the role is to cover for clients spread across Global Corporates, International Mid Market, Global Network Banking and Institutional Client Group segments. The role entails driving business, new initiatives and employee performance management. Key objectives are listed below.
- Drive and deliver revenue and PBT growth, achieve FRP targets and maximise the financial contribution, RoRWA and Economic Profit (in line with entity specific targets where relevant) of the GTS business in Vietnam
- Drive the delivery of a comprehensive and competitive suite of GTS solutions, delivered through a range of delivery channels by executing a commercially focused product management strategy, which aligns with the propositional requirements of the Customer Groups
- Lead the development and execution of a high quality client-centric service culture that delivers superior post-sales support to clients across the range of GTS products in Vietnam
- Position HSBC as the leading GTS bank in Vietnam by developing an appropriate marketing strategy to ensure that HSBC is ranked number one in all significant trade providers’ surveys across the country
- Lead the creation of appropriate operating budgets and track performance of country GTS teams against Performance Scorecards and ensure strategic alignment with Global and Country imperatives
- Take responsibility for running a globally & locally compliant GTS business which meets changing regulatory requirements and ensures reputational risk impact is mitigated or minimised
- Optimise the use of GTS resources across the country, by developing and monitoring appropriate MI to manage the use of resources including people, premises and systems
- Strive for class-leading customer experience by cultivating a consistent selling and relationship management culture
- Establish metrics and ensure effective tracking of HSBC’s competitor offerings and performance versus HSBC
- Deepen customer relationships through championing business co-operation with key stakeholders including Coverage, GPS, MSS, IWPB and Risk Stewards and ensure strong network with key external stakeholders such as regulatory bodies, business associations and IT vendors etc.
- Drive a high performance culture through effective people management activities and drive up employee engagement by taking action against agreed priorities in identified action plans
- Encourage cross-country and cross-business teamwork by sharing best practices
- Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators
- Implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Group Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer and Local Compliance Officers, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training
The role holder will implement the Group Compliance policy locally and adhere to all relevant processes / procedures in respect of new business initiatives.

Certifications, Qualifications & Experience
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
- Broad commercial banking and relationship management experience including an in-depth knowledge of the GTS business on a global basis
- Highly developed management skills, with experience in team building and managing a wide range of entity-wide projects
- Ability to lead and motivate other managers and staff, employing appropriate management styles and in-line with HSBC’s principles
- Highly developed communication and influencing skills set
- Experience of managing resources to achieve objectives using appropriate communication, delegation and planning skills
- Ability to use strong judgmental skills to identify and resolve problems whilst maintaining budgets, time scales and quality of output
- A sound knowledge of all aspects of the CIB business
- An ability to appreciate the application of technology in relation to operations
