Communications for Businesses and Markets (CBAM) is part of our People, Governance and Communications (PG&C) structure. This team designs and implements communications strategies to support HSBC’s business objectives in line with our values and enhance / protect our reputation among key stakeholders.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Communications, Sri Lanka.
Principal responsibilities
- Develop and deliver an integrated communications strategy and corporate narrative aligned to business priorities and global themes.
- Lead digital and social media communications, including executive profiling and thought leadership for senior leaders and the Country CEO.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local media to support proactive storytelling and effective reactive communications.
- Create and deliver high-quality content across digital and traditional channels, including speeches, press releases, social media posts, films and graphics.
- Lead reputation, issues and crisis management across digital, social and traditional media, providing timely counsel and escalation when needed.
- Measure communications effectiveness, using digital and social insights to continuously improve reach, engagement and impact.
- Partner with the Country Leadership Team and regional and Global Communications teams and contribute to governance as a member of the Country Operating Committee.
Requirements
- Strong experience in communications, public relations or corporate affairs, with strong depth in digital and social media communications.
- Experience working in an international organisation and in a regulated environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling stories for both internal and external audiences.
- Proven capability to produce digital content directly and to brief agencies to deliver films, graphics and other creative assets.
- Experience using digital and social analytics to measure performance and optimise communications strategy and content.
- Strong track record in media relations and corporate and employee communications, with established local media networks.
- Extensive experience managing reputation, issues and crisis situations, with the confidence to advise senior leaders and deliver at pace under pressure.
This is a Key Management Personnel role therefore the appointment is subject to prior approval by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL)
