The opportunity
Join Hitachi Energy in Alamo, TN as a Mechanical Design Engineer and play a key role in shaping innovative, high-performance electromechanical solutions. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, leverage advanced 2D and 3D CAD tools, and support both new product development and ongoing product improvements. With a balanced mix of customer-focused work, product lifecycle support, and hands-on troubleshooting, you’ll gain exposure to diverse engineering challenges while building your expertise.

How you'll make an impact
- Perform engineering tasks including analysis, design, development, testing, and installation support
- Interpret and work from drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials
- Develop 2D and 3D CAD models for prototypes, production, and retrofit builds
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs meet application requirements
- Investigate technical issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Support customer orders, product improvements, and field troubleshooting activities
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, specifications, and approvals
- Contribute to improving product design, performance, and reliability
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo/Pro-E or similar) preferred
- Familiarity with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill) is a plus
- Exposure to electromechanical product design is desirable
- Knowledge of engineering principles, standards, and best practices
