Corporate Accountant

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Corporate Accountant with high attention to detail, resilient under pressure with the ability to operate effectively within a culturally diverse work environment.  This position is based in Perth, Australia.

Working as part of the Accounting and Finance team, the successful candidate will contribute to a broad range of corporate accounting, reporting, compliance and continuous improvement activities. 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 Financial Reporting 

·         Assist with the preparation of monthly statutory and management accounts, utilising SAP accounting software and Microsoft Excel, before loading results into OneStream software, including P&L, balance sheet and statistical financial data. 

·         Contribute to the preparation of consolidated statutory financial statements in accordance with IFRS principles. 

·         Prepare and process monthly journals, ensuring high levels of accuracy and supporting the preparation of monthly reconciliations. 

Monitoring, Compliance & Analysis 

·         Support internal and external audits by liaising with relevant stakeholders and collating information and documentation required by auditors. 

·         Contribute to compliance with company and legislative accounting and reporting requirements. 

·         Support the ongoing integrity of the OneStream accounting and SAP financial reporting systems. 

Continuous Improvement 

·         Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the Accounting and Finance team. 

·         Support the compliance, review and development of accounting policies and procedures. 

·         Identify and put forward ideas to improve processes and procedures, including through the use of Copilot. 

Taxation 

·         Support the preparation of tax calculations and compliance with statutory taxation obligations, including direct and indirect taxation, GST, FBT, withholding tax, transfer pricing and cross-border taxation. 

·         Contribute to compliance with company tax governance policy and local legislation. 

Qualification & Experience: 

Essential criteria: 

·         Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field 

·         CA/CPA member or in progress to complete 

·         7+ years of professional industry experience in a similar role with excellent Excel skills 

·         Demonstrable capacity to work independently and collaboratively; 

·         Demonstrable ability to deliver to tight deadlines while maintaining a high quality of work.

Highly desirable criteria: 

·         Experience with SAP  

·         Experience with FBT 

·         Experience with OneStream or Hyperion.
