Leveraging Ginkgo's automation and digital infrastructure, we deliver AI-ready data across ADME profiling, functional genomics, and chemical biology — at industrial scale.
Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Director of Sales for our Small Molecule Business to join the Ginkgo Datapoints commercial team, reporting to the Head of Business Development. This role is the primary driver of revenue growth for our small molecule services portfolio, spanning ADME profiling and cell perturbation screens. The ideal candidate brings scientific fluency in drug discovery and a demonstrated ability to close commercial deals.
Key Responsibilities
Pipeline & Account Management
Build and manage a portfolio of pharma, biotech, and tech accounts from prospecting through close
Maintain a structured sales pipeline using CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot), reporting progress to the Head of BD
Develop account strategies focused on repeat and expanding engagements
Deal Execution
Lead end-to-end commercial negotiations — scoping, pricing, and contract terms
Partner with legal, finance, and science teams to structure deals aligned with client and business needs
Meet and exceed annual revenue targets for the Small Molecule Services portfolio
Market Development
Represent Ginkgo Datapoints at industry conferences and scientific forums
Conduct competitive landscape analysis to identify growth opportunities in ADME and functional genomics
Gather customer feedback to inform service development and go-to-market strategy
Technical Sales
Serve as a scientific resource for customers, translating the value of Ginkgo Datapoints' data offerings into clear commercial propositions
Contribute to proposals, presentations, and white papers demonstrating scientific rigor and data quality
Partner with science and operations teams to ensure successful delivery and high customer satisfaction
Minimum Qualifications
BS, MS, or PhD in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemical Biology, Cell Biology, or a related life sciences field; or a business degree with direct life sciences exposure
3–7 years of experience in scientific roles (pharmacology, HTS, functional genomics, or chemical biology) and/or in commercial roles, BD, management consulting or strategic partnerships within life sciences
Self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex science into compelling value propositions
Proficiency with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot) and AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT)
Willingness to travel ~20–30%
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated BD success: identifying leads, navigating complex sales cycles, and closing or materially contributing to deals
Hands-on familiarity with ADME assays (metabolic stability, CYP inhibition, permeability,) and/or functional genomics approaches (chemical perturbation with transcriptomic or imaging readouts, CRISPR screens)

The salary for the role will consist of a base salary and an incentive commission based on quota achievement. Actual pay will depend on a candidate's skills, expertise, and experience.
