This is an exciting opportunity tailored for a recent graduate eager to apply academic knowledge and gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers. You will provide technical support for the mechanical design and assessment of impulse technology steampaths, applied globally across GE Vernova's Steam Power Services. This includes contributing to the development and preparation of technical designs and documentation for steam turbine steampath service, replacement-in-kind, and upgrade/retrofit projects. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Apply engineering principles and established design standards, with guidance from senior engineers to design and analyse steampath components across a wide range of applications, from small industrial units to large nuclear steam turbines.
- Support the adaptation of legacy designs to incorporate modern manufacturing processes.
- Contribute to root cause analyses of component failures.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to develop and document best working practices.
- Support the capture and standardization of design standards and methods, contributing to the effectiveness of the global engineering team.
- Communicate with suppliers and customers as needed to support business objectives.
- Undertake occasional international travel to other engineering sites and suppliers, as required.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a closely related field). Coursework or exposure to steam turbine technology, turbomachinery or thermodynamics is a plus.
- Academic or project-based experience applying analytical methods to mechanical design or mechanical integrity topics.
Desired Characteristics
- Technical knowledge in the domain, covering steam turbine technology.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD tools, familiarity with Siemens NX is an advantage.
