Job Description Summary
The GEC BIM Leader is responsible for leading the implementation and management of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes across high-voltage substation and HVDC converter station projects across the GSI Regions. This role requires a deep understanding of BIM practices aligned with ISO 19650 standards, ensuring that all projects are executed efficiently, with a focus on quality, safety, and collaboration. GEC BIM Leader will work closely with both internal teams/ Regions and external partners to drive consistency, innovation, and compliance across all BIM-related activities in the regions. Job Description
- Lead and manage the development and implementation of BIM strategies across regional projects, ensuring alignment with ISO 19650 standards and internal BIM procedures.
- Support Project BIM Coordinators by providing guidance, tools, and training to ensure they can effectively manage BIM activities within their respective projects.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of BIM Execution Plans (BEPs), ensuring consistency across all projects and compliance with client and company requirements.
- Coordinate 3D model collaboration efforts, including model auditing, clash detection, virtual construction, and design reviews, while supporting Project BIM Coordinators in these tasks.
- Facilitate the deployment of BIM tools, such as Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, across regional projects, ensuring effective and consistent use.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and security of BIM data throughout the project lifecycle, while guiding Project BIM Coordinators in maintaining these standards.
- Collaborate with the Central BIM Manager to ensure regional processes align with global BIM strategies and contribute to continuous improvement efforts..
Customer and Stakeholder Interactions
- Act as the primary contact for BIM-related matters, coordinating with Project BIM Coordinators to ensure smooth communication with subcontractors, partners, and clients.
- Support Project BIM Coordinators in managing client expectations and delivering BIM-related services that meet or exceed project requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients, ensuring BIM processes are clearly understood and adhered to..
Reporting & Compliance
- Regularly report on GEC BIM activities to the Central BIM Manager, providing updates on project progress, compliance with standards, and any issues that require attention.
- Ensure all regional projects adhere to ISO 19650 standards and internal BIM procedures, conducting regular audits and reviews to ensure compliance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all BIM activities, including model audits, clash detection reports, and project deliverables, ensuring they are accessible for internal and external audits.
Quality, Safety, and Security (Including Cyber)
- Uphold the highest standards of quality in all BIM processes, ensuring that models and data are accurate, reliable, and fit for purpose.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols in all BIM activities, ensuring that the virtual construction environment supports the overall safety objectives of the project.
- Ensure the security of BIM data, including adherence to cyber security protocols, to protect project information from unauthorized access or breaches.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure that all BIM tools and systems are secure and compliant with company policies and industry regulations.
Qualification, Education, and Experience
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field. A focus on BIM or digital construction is highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of ISO 19650 and other relevant BIM standards, with a proven track record of implementing these standards in large-scale projects.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Navisworks, and Autodesk Construction Cloud, including a strong understanding of their application in engineering and construction projects.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and large teams and coordinate teams across different locations.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Strong organizational skills, with a focus on detail, quality, and compliance in all BIM-related activities.
- Strong IT background with experience in cloud-based project documentation platforms and document management systems, such as Windchill Imagine.
