Responsibilities:
- Participate in the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process, leading the development of prototype and production processes and equipment to ensure flawless launch.
- Develop and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment including controls, automation, and vision systems.
- Program machine automation (PLCs, HMIs, robots, servos), automated vision control systems, SCADA/MES
- Provide assistance to operations and quality team, including 8D report support
- Help project managers and process development engineers in PPAP/customer validation activities
- Work closely with Freudenberg-NOK manufacturing experts globally (USA, France, Italy, Japan, Germany) and associated departments (materials engineering, testing, operations, quality and laboratory)
- To conceptualize and develop lean manufacturing processes for new and existing business opportunities, which may include new and/or modified plant, equipment and process needs
- Create and maintain accurate engineering/process/machine documentation such as, Process Flow diagrams, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs), machine schematics, etc
- Adhere to company policies and safety / ergonomic / quality standard
- 15% Travel is possible to support operations within NAFTA
- International travel possible for training and best practices
- All other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering (Mechatronics [Preferred], Electrical, Industrial, Automation, Robotics, or Mechanical)
- 5+ years hands on experience building, assembling and commissioning custom equipment
- Proficient in PLCs, HMI, and SCADA systems
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (bearings, drives, pneumatics, hydraulics)
- Strong knowledge of machine design principles (tolerancing, fits, load calculations)
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings (GD&T preferred) and electrical schematics
- Hands on experience integrating robots (FANUC, Kawasaki, ABB)
- Hands on experience developing and implementing vision systems (Keyence, FIPS, Zero D)
- Ability to wire machines and panels, and debug electrical systems
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus
- Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, NX or similar)
- Strong builder mentality
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Windows Operating Systems, Teams, MS Excel, and MSWord
- Must contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Must demonstrate effective verbal communication skills and be team-oriented
- Automotive industry experience a plus
- Must demonstrate project and process ownership
