The Mercury Business Advisor Senior Associate is part of a high-performing, multi-level Finance team led by the Markets Finance Lead.
This role provides finance advisory support by combining end-to-end system, process and policy knowledge with practical business insight. The Mercury Business Advisor helps engagement teams resolve issues, improve financial management and adopt better ways of working as the business continues to transform.
The opportunity
The Mercury Business Advisor plays a key role in advising and supporting client-serving engagement teams to use Mercury and related processes effectively to manage projects with EY’s external clients.
The role has two core components: providing responsive financial advisory support through channels such as online chat, email, phone and ticketing systems; and conducting proactive outreach to engagement teams identified through financial metrics and exception reporting.
Working across MENA, the Senior Associate is an integral member of the wider Service Line Finance team, helping improve financial performance, strengthen financial management standards and support profitable growth.
As a trusted business advisor, you will act as an ambassador for EY’s culture and reputation while building strong relationships with engagement teams, regional finance stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Your key responsibilities
- Meet regularly with regional Service Line teams to review financial analytics, identify priority engagement teams and plan targeted outreach.
- Provide clear guidance on local policies, Mercury processes and leading financial management practices.
- Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions for client-serving teams on Mercury and effective engagement financial management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, leveraging leading practices and supporting colleagues across borders, service lines and industries.
- Coach and support junior Mercury Business Advisors through job shadowing, informal training, problem-solving and practical advice.
- Review open ServiceNow tickets, prioritize follow-up actions and schedule engagement team discussions as required.
Support for client-serving teams includes:
- Reviewing pricing plans and advising on financial implications.
- Advising on Service Line and GDS leverage targets.
- Helping engagement teams prepare for client negotiations from a financial perspective.
- Advising on the correct client entity selection for opportunities.
- Explaining the downstream financial and operational impact of Mercury user choices.
- Providing guidance on estimate-to-complete processes and related financial impacts.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives and proactively identifying opportunities to enhance service delivery.
- Supporting consistent, high-quality service across the Mercury Business Advisor team.
- Supporting junior team members in developing and maintaining effective self-development plans.
Analytical and decision-making responsibilities
- Use financial analytics and exception reporting to identify partners and engagement teams requiring support or intervention.
- Make sound decisions to ensure client-serving teams receive timely, accurate responses and that issues are resolved efficiently or escalated to the appropriate functional expert.
- Manage new-user questions or frustration with empathy, professionalism and a focus on positive outcomes.
- Prepare effectively for portfolio discussions by prioritizing key topics, applying finance and system expertise and involving other functional experts where needed.

To qualify for the role, you must have
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a client-driven professional environment in a finance or business capacity.
- Experience supporting customers or stakeholders remotely, with empathy, resilience and a strong service mindset.
- Proven ability to build credibility and trust with senior stakeholders across regions.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
Ideally, you’ll also have
- A finance-related degree, progress toward an accountancy qualification, or experience in a professional services or consulting environment.
- An innovative, confident and creative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
- Sound judgment, initiative and the ability to make informed decisions quickly.
