As an R&D Engineer within the Applications Engineering team, you will play a key role in advancing next-generation semiconductor manufacturing technologies through strategic collaborations with imec and industry-leading partners. You will drive cutting-edge development programs in advanced filtration and contamination control, helping accelerate innovation and position Entegris as a trusted technology partner for the semiconductor industry.
This unique opportunity is based at imec, one of the world's leading research and innovation hubs for nanoelectronics and digital technologies, where you will collaborate directly with renowned industry experts and research teams while representing Entegris on-site.
In this role you will:
- Lead and execute joint development projects with imec and external partners focused on advanced filtration technologies and microenvironment contamination control solutions.
- Design, plan, and conduct experiments that support new product development and generate meaningful performance data.
- Utilize imec’s world-class infrastructure and technical capabilities to evaluate and validate emerging solutions for the semiconductor market.
- Partner closely with the CTO organization, Business Units, Product Management, and global R&D teams to ensure successful project execution and alignment.
- Communicate technical findings through internal reviews, customer and partner engagements, and scientific publications.
- Build and strengthen strategic relationships with research institutions and industry collaborators.
- Monitor semiconductor technology trends and translate insights into opportunities that support innovation, business growth, and market leadership.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in R&D, semiconductor technology, or advanced materials environments.
- Or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in R&D, semiconductor technology, or advanced materials environments.
- Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication processes, chemical manufacturing, wet etch technologies, lithography processes, and associated materials.
- Understanding of integrated circuit manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, and industry trends is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to draw data-driven conclusions and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Excellent relationship-building and collaboration skills, with a passion for identifying new opportunities and creating value through partnerships.
- Ability to work effectively in an international environment and meet the requirements for international assignments.
- Comfortable working in cleanroom environments while following required gowning procedures.
