This position will support projects in the South Zone within Carolinas Dispatchable Generation. This zone supports multiple natural gas combined cycle and simple cycle peaking stations, and one coal station. Those stations are Smith Energy Complex, Cliffside Coal (Rogers Energy Complex), Sutton Energy Complex, Darlington, Blewett, and Weatherspoon.
A Project Manager I (PM-I) or Project Manager II (PM-II) position has single point accountability or can be under the general direction of a Project Director or Zone Manager. Position is responsible for management, or assisting management, of all phases of project planning and execution to ensure project success factors are met. These include but are not limited to scope, schedule, cost, quality, environmental, safety, communications, security, and integration.
The position is typically assigned a portfolio of “White” or “Green” ranked projects per the Project Management Center of Excellence Risk-Informed Project Ranking Process. Higher ranked projects with greater risk may also be assigned when accompanied with an Enhanced Support and Oversight Plan (ESOP).
The position is accountable for a portfolio of assigned projects with Low to Moderate levels of risk that impact various levels of the Company, Senior Management or External Agencies. PM-II’s may be assigned projects with specific risk-informed requirements based on specific experience and skill sets.
PM-I or PM-II’s serve as unifying agents providing leadership, decision making, management, guidance, coordination, and control of overall projects in accordance with established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements of the Company.
Progression to this level is based on experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, and should align with business unit personnel needs to manage the portfolio.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities entail (not an all-inclusive list):
Provide leadership, oversight management, delegation and coordination to the various internal and external organizations that are providing services to the project (engineering, project controls, estimating, construction management, supply chain, legal, EHS, QA/QC, operations, communications, regulatory, security, fuels, transmission, etc.). Structure, lead, and/or assist in leading all project related meetings and reports required to ensure open communication between all team members, key stakeholders, and management (monthly project reviews, kickoff meetings, etc.) and to properly report project status. Present reports to appropriate management / governance team skillfully. Plan assigned project (s) including scope, schedule, cost, safety, quality and closeout. This includes but not limited to scope definition, estimating, schedule creation and monitoring, cost control measures, procurement/contracting strategies, equipment selection, vendor selection, start-up and commissioning plans, and integration processes such as turnover to operations, and warranty management. Execute projects with a focus on Event Free and Operations Quality, according to plan within designed scope, cost and schedule limits.
Basic/Required Qualifications – PM I
Associate degree
2 years related work experience.
In Lieu of Associate degree, HS Diploma/GED and 5 years related Work Experience.
Basic/Required Qualifications – PM II
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related work experience
In lieu of Bachelor’s degree and 5 years related work experience, High School Diploma / GED AND 9 years related work experience

Working Conditions
Hybrid – Selected candidate will be required to be at a station or office at least three (3) days per week.
Location
The preferred base location for the selected candidate includes Lark Maintenance Center (Mt. Holly), Smith Energy Complex (Hamlet, NC), Sutton Energy Complex (Wilmington, NC) or Cliffside Coal (Mooresboro, NC).
Project portfolio can include any of the South Zone stations including Smith Energy Complex, Cliffside Coal (Rogers Energy Complex), Sutton Energy Complex, and East Peakers (Darlington CT, Weatherspoon CT, & Blewett CT).
