Dewberry is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Fairfax, VA. The Sr. Project Manager will be the primary contact between our enterprise and the Owner, effectively managing multi-discipline engineering studies and projects from concept through design, bidding, and construction administration to winning the next project with the same client. The Senior Project Manager will oversee the creation of first-rate engineering documents that meet client’s needs, project specifications and governing standards/codes. The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the client to anticipate their needs and achieve their organizational goals, doing whatever is necessary to maintain a Client for Life.
Dewberry is an ENR top 50 design firm operating throughout the United States and has a robust facility engineering presence on the east coast and in the mid-west. Currently, we provide full-service engineering services for buildings facilities and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities
- Maintain primary one-to-one contact with the client.
- Understand the client's needs and goals and that of his/her organization.
- Prepare proposals for new projects.
- Attend regular design project and marketing meetings with the client and issue meeting minutes.
- As project manager, lead, organize, and schedule design team staff.
- Organize and direct frequent in-house design meetings.
- Primary responsibility for the approval and oversight of design and construction document preparation. Perform the duties of Engineer of Record when applicable.
- Coordinate with Design Discipline Managers to schedule, plan and assign appropriate personnel.
- Prepare storyboards and detailed project timeline.
- Organize and maintain project design folder.
- Document meetings and telephone conversations.
- Provide quality control to ensure that all of the clients' needs and requests have been accommodated. Ensure and coordinate among all of the disciplines involved, including outside consultants. Comply with Dewberry’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Arrange for in-house quality review in a timely fashion.
- Provide 'on-the-spot' advice and decisions to Owner.
- Advise on project billing and assist in collections.
- Supervise and coordinate the submission of documents to the appropriate reviewing authorities.
- Coordinate the responses to reviews. Ensure that responses are reflected in the drawings and specifications.
- Conduct bid openings and prepare / issue certified bid tabulation. Coordinate as required to ensure CA phase of the project puts Dewberry in positive standing with our Client at all times.
- Perform site visits and inspections as required to support the Construction Administration requirements.
- Assist with recruiting, evaluating, and making recommendations regarding new employees to support engineering building services practice.
- Travel to project sites, typically within a 3 hour radius of the Charlotte office.
Required Skills & Required Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or Structural Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Accomplished Professional Engineer (PE) with 15+ years of experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the A/E and construction processes.
- Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, with good understanding of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, structural and life safety systems with general knowledge of applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and cost.
