Team / division overview
In Solution & Data Architecture we focus on shaping architecture relevant patterns and guidelines and support delivery teams implementing their solutions aligned to these standards. We closely work together with Domain Architects, Security SMEs, Data SMEs and Delivery Teams to assure overall strategic and policy adherence of any solution we deliver into the organization. As such the team supports the full delivery from modelling solutions for data in transit, at rest, consuming data and building services and front ends on top of data. We provide guidance and governance during implementation and help teams implement the solution designs.
The team is responsible for translating business, functional and non-functional requirements into robust data models, data pathways and reusable architecture patterns. You will help ensure that data solutions are scalable, governed, secure and aligned with DWS’s strategic architecture direction.
As a Data Architect, you will be responsible for:
Translate functional and non-functional requirements into data-related architecture building blocks, including appropriate data models, ingest strategies and consumption patterns.
Partner with Solution Architects to design end-to-end data pathways across systems, platforms and services.
Coach and guide data engineers in implementing data models, ingest patterns and consumption patterns in line with approved architecture standards.
Collaborate with Domain Architects, Solution Architects and Data SMEs to define architecture decision records, reusable patterns and reference implementations for recurring data architecture challenges.
Contribute to solution designs and present data architecture decisions in design, architecture and security governance forums.
Maintain and evolve the Enterprise Data Model and help translate logical models into physical database models, service contracts or other implementation structures.
Evaluate and prototype emerging technologies, deriving reusable usage patterns for broader adoption across DWS.
We are looking for
Strong data modelling skills, e.g. 0NF, 3NF, Star, Snowflake, DV 2.0 and ability to select the appropriate model or combination of modelling methodologies to meeting functional and non-functional requirements
Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, data architecture or solution architecture with a strong data focus.
Strong data modelling skills, including normalized, dimensional and Data Vault approaches.
Ability to select appropriate modelling methods based on functional, non-functional, analytical and operational requirements.
Strong understanding of data architecture patterns such as batch processing, streaming, event-driven architecture, parallel ingestion and data consumption patterns.
Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Ability to define reusable architecture patterns, decision trees and architecture decision records.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Experience in financial services or asset management.
Experience with Snowflake.
Experience deploying workloads to cloud platforms, preferably GCP.
Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management and regulatory data requirements.
Hands-on experience with prototyping new technologies and turning learnings into enterprise adoption patterns.
Confident conversational and professional proficiency (B2)—you can comfortably negotiate, present, and collaborate with German-speaking clients.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Posting period: 03.03.2026 until further notice
