Work you'll do

As a Summer Scholar in our Government & Public Services practice, you will be an integral member of a client service team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to help solve multidimensional problems, improve performance, and generate value for our clients. You can capitalize on our cross-industry presence to find your niche and build your individual brand within the organization.

Accounting & Finance Summer Scholar

• This Summer Scholar establishes and maintains financial policies, controls, and records in compliance with accounting principles and statutory requirements, ensuring accurate financial information and effective internal controls. You may also manage components of grant programs, including planning, budgeting, compliance monitoring, and leveraging firm technology assets for enhanced financial reporting and decision-making.

The team

Deloitte’s Government & Public Services practice serves government agencies, higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other public sector organizations. Teams work across strategy, operations, technology, and transformation efforts to help clients improve mission outcomes and organizational performance. Professionals in the practice have opportunities to build specialized experience while working in a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• You must reside within a commutable distance (e.g. 100-mile radius) of your assigned office with the ability to commute daily, if required
• Ability to travel 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment

Preferred:

• Cumulative grade point average of 3.4 or higher
• Internship, project, or coursework experience in accounting or finance
• Meet minimum educational requirements for CPA licensure (which may differ from the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam) in the state of your assigned office location prior to beginning full-time employment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current wage is $36/hour.
