Join DayOne – Shaping the Future of Data Infrastructure
DayOne is a global leader in the development and operation of high-performance data centers. As one of the fastest-growing companies in the industry, we’ve built a robust presence across Asia and Europe — and we’re just getting started.
As we expand into new international markets, we’re looking for talented, driven individuals to join us on this exciting journey. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to be a key contributor to our dynamic team and help shape the future of global data infrastructure.
If you're passionate about innovation, technology, and growth, we invite you to be part of DayOne’s next chapter.
DayOne builds and operates hyperscale data centers across seven markets in APAC and Europe. We raised US$4.5B in Series C funding, and we’re building the internal functions to match that scale. Most of what you’ll work on here doesn’t have a template yet. The processes, systems and ways of working still need to be built by the people in these roles.
We are looking for a Business Development Manager specialising in power infrastructure and green energy to support our data center developments in Batam.
You will lead the development of reliable, scalable and commercially viable power solutions for two potential data center sites, while enhancing power delivery for our existing Kabil facility. You will work closely with PLN, renewable-energy providers, government authorities, industrial park operators and other infrastructure partners.
This is a strategic, stakeholder-facing role combining business development, commercial negotiation, infrastructure planning and project coordination. While a strong understanding of power infrastructure is essential, this is not a pure engineering position.
Develop and execute power-supply strategies for DayOne’s existing and potential data center sites in Batam.
Lead power-readiness planning for two potential development sites.
Assess grid capacity, connection options, reliability, redundancy, tariffs, infrastructure requirements and delivery timelines.
Identify opportunities to improve the capacity, reliability, cost and delivery of power to the existing Kabil facility.
Evaluate utility supply, captive power, renewable energy and other alternative power solutions.
Prepare commercial recommendations and business cases to support site selection, investment and development decisions.
Lead engagement and negotiations with PLN regarding capacity allocation, grid connections, substations, energisation schedules, tariffs and power-supply agreements.
Build and maintain relationships with renewable-energy providers, government authorities, industrial park operators, consultants and infrastructure partners.
Coordinate grid studies, connection applications, technical submissions, approvals, agreements and relevant permits.
Represent DayOne in discussions involving power availability, infrastructure development, commercial terms and green-energy solutions.
Monitor regulatory, tariff, market and infrastructure developments that may affect DayOne’s projects.
Identify and evaluate renewable and lower-carbon energy opportunities.
Explore potential power purchase agreements, renewable-energy certificates and partnerships with green-energy providers.
Assess the commercial viability, regulatory requirements, delivery risks and sustainability benefits of proposed solutions.
Align power strategies with DayOne’s sustainability objectives and customer requirements.
Work closely with Development, Engineering, Construction, Operations, Finance, Legal and Commercial teams.
Translate technical information into clear commercial strategies and management recommendations.
Coordinate feasibility studies, due diligence, grid studies, technical assessments and implementation plans.
Track milestones, budgets, risks, dependencies and stakeholder commitments.
Support commercial negotiations and contract development with utilities and infrastructure partners.
Escalate issues that may affect project timelines or power readiness.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in business development, project development, power utilities, energy infrastructure or resource planning.
At least 5 years of direct experience in power-grid infrastructure, transmission and distribution, power generation, renewable energy or large-load power development.
Demonstrated experience delivering or supporting power-infrastructure projects in Indonesia.
Experience engaging directly with PLN or other major Indonesian energy stakeholders.
Practical knowledge of grid connections, substations, capacity planning, tariffs, power-supply agreements and energisation processes.
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to evaluate cost, risk, schedule and long-term project viability.
Strong communication, negotiation, presentation and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to translate technical information into clear business recommendations.
Ability to work effectively across technical, commercial, financial, legal and operational teams.
Professional proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
Willingness to be based in Batam and travel as required.
Data center experience in Indonesia.
Experience supporting large power users such as data centers, industrial parks or manufacturing facilities.
Experience developing renewable-energy or green-power solutions.
Existing relationships with PLN, energy providers, government authorities or industrial park operators.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, energy, infrastructure, business, finance or a related discipline.
If you’ve spent your career executing inside a function someone else built, this is a different kind of job. DayOne is at the stage where the people joining now get to define how things are done—not inherit a system and maintain it. That’s genuinely rare at a company operating at this scale.
The work is complex, the pace is real, and the decisions you make will still be visible five years from now. You will play a key role in developing reliable and sustainable power solutions for Indonesia’s growing digital infrastructure.
DayOne is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
If you're ready to grow with one of the fastest-moving companies in the data center industry, apply now and be part of our global journey.
