Job Description
The Payroll Specialist ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing in line with local legislation and DayOne’s internal policies. The role plays a critical part in maintaining payroll accuracy, supporting audits, and providing reliable payroll services to employees and management.
This role will be reporting to our Payroll Manager based in KL, Malaysia.
Responsibilities
Manage payroll across multiple SEA countries, ensuring compliance with country-specific labor laws, social security, and tax regulations.
Prepare and process monthly payroll accurately and on time
Prepare and analyse monthly payroll reports and variances
Manage time and attendance data, overtime, shift work, and leave calculations
Ensure compliance with labor law, social security, and tax regulations
Prepare statutory payroll reports, declarations, and submissions
Manage employee benefits administration related to payroll (health insurance, meal, transportation, etc.)
Maintain payroll data accuracy in payroll systems (Workday, Deel)
Support in integration between Workday to Deel
Support internal and external audits related to payroll processes
Respond to employee payroll-related questions and requests
Support coordination related to payroll inputs, shift structures, and employment conditions
Provide support in union-related processes, including collective bargaining preparations, payroll simulations, and implementation of agreed terms
Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure data consistency
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field
Minimum 3–5 years of experience in payroll and personnel administration
Strong knowledge of labor law, social security, and tax regulations
Experience with payroll systems (Workday and/or Deel similar preferred)
Advanced MS Excel skills
High attention to detail and strong numerical skills
Strong sense of confidentiality and responsibility
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Experience in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong payroll is a plus
