The Senior IT Engineer (Server) is responsible for the deployment, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise network, server, and data center infrastructure. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with infrastructure project delivery, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure IT environments that support business operations.
The successful candidate will provide Level 2 support across network and server domains, lead infrastructure implementations, maintain operational excellence, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and operations teams.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Project Delivery & Management
- Support the end-to-end delivery of data center and IT infrastructure projects, including planning, design, implementation, testing, and transition to operations.
- Develop and maintain project scope, work breakdown structures (WBS), project schedules, RACI matrices, and risk registers.
- Ensure projects are delivered in alignment with business objectives, technical standards, budget, and timelines.
- Coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful infrastructure deployments and operational readiness.
- Track project milestones, risks, dependencies, and deliverables while driving timely issue resolution.
- Stakeholder Communication & Governance: provide clear and consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle as well as prepare project status reports, executive summaries, implementation updates, and post-project documentation.
- Promote best practices in project governance, documentation, and change management.
Network Infrastructure Support (Level 2)
- Provide Level 2 operational support for enterprise, workplace, and data center networks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents involving routing, switching, connectivity, and network performance.
- Participate in network design, capacity planning, scalability assessments, and infrastructure expansion initiatives.
- Create and maintain standardized device configuration templates, deployment scripts, and implementation procedures.
- Collaborate with Network Operations teams to improve operational processes, service quality, and delivery efficiency.
- Develop and maintain network operational standards, runbooks, and technical documentation.
- Support infrastructure lifecycle activities including deployment, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.
- Contribute to network monitoring, automation, reporting, and operational tooling initiatives.
Systems Infrastructure Support (Level 2)
- Provide Level 2 support for server, virtualization, storage, and infrastructure platforms.
- Perform day-to-day administration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization of enterprise systems.
- Monitor infrastructure health, identify system bottlenecks, and implement improvements to maintain service availability and performance.
- Manage capacity planning for critical business systems, applications, and services.
- Execute backup operations and support disaster recovery testing and business continuity initiatives.
- Administer and support virtualization technologies including VMware vCenter, VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, and KVM/AHV environments.
- Manage and support server hardware platforms including Dell and HPE infrastructure and associated storage solutions.
- Identify, remediate, and patch infrastructure vulnerabilities across Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Support Microsoft collaboration platforms, including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and related services.
- Participate in infrastructure standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Data Center & Infrastructure Operations
- Support the deployment, expansion, and operational management of data center, enterprise network, and workplace infrastructure environments.
- Ensure infrastructure availability, reliability, security, and compliance with operational standards.
- Maintain accurate infrastructure inventories, diagrams, asset records, and operational documentation.
- Participate in incident response, problem management, and root cause analysis activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, service quality, and infrastructure resilience.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience managing and supporting medium-to-large enterprise network and server environments in rapidly scaling international environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with enterprise networking technologies, including routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience administering Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vCenter/ESXi, Hyper-V, and KVM/AHV.
- Experience supporting enterprise server and storage infrastructure.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
Preferred
- ITIL Foundation Certification and/or Agile Project Management experience.
- Microsoft certifications (MCSA, MCSE, or equivalent).
- Cisco CCNP, Huawei HCIP, or equivalent networking certifications.
- Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring, automation, scripting, and operational tooling.
- Experience participating in infrastructure migration, expansion, or transformation projects.
