The Social Compliance Associate Manager ensures our company and supply chain adhere to ethical labor practices, human rights standards, and regulatory requirements. This role involves overseeing supplier audits, implementing compliance programs, and fostering strong partnerships to maintain our commitment to social responsibility.
This is an on-site position (Monday through Thursday) based out of our Northbrook, IL office with the flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
A day in the life as a Social Compliance Associate Manager...
Compliance & Auditing
- Implement and manage social compliance programs in line with company policies and industry standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and supplier audits to ensure adherence to labor laws, human rights, and environmental regulations.
- Work with third-party auditor firms and certification bodies to assess compliance across the supply chain.
- Maintain and update policies related to fair labor, human rights, and responsible sourcing.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams and external partners on social compliance requirements.
Supplier Engagement & Training
- Collaborate with agents and direct suppliers to address non-compliance issues and develop corrective action plans.
- Partner with agents and direct vendors to drive our supplier training strategy.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including NGOs, industry groups, and regulatory bodies.
Regulatory & Industry Standards
- Stay up to date with global labor laws, human rights policies, and industry best practices (e.g., SA8000, BSCI, SMETA, ILO standards).
- Ensure compliance with frameworks such as the UN Global Compact, Ethical Trading Initiative, and local labor laws.
- Support corporate sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) initiatives.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Track and analyze compliance data, audit results, and supplier performance to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Prepare quarterly reports for senior management and external stakeholders on compliance status and program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement in social compliance efforts.
What you’ll bring to the table…
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Sustainability, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in social compliance, ethical sourcing, or corporate responsibility, preferably in Retail.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws, human rights standards, and global compliance frameworks.
- Experience reviewing audit reports and working with third-party auditing firms.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently.
- Experience working with international supply chains and diverse cultural environments preferred
