How You Will Contribute
· Drive project management and coordination cross functionally with Service Operations teams, external global partners, and engineering groups to resolve complex process issues.
· Partner closely with Ciena Engineering teams to deliver service enablement, New Product Introduction (NPI) , service ramp, and continuous process improvement projects in the area of Service Operations.
· Identify and lead initiatives that enable service improvement through cost reduction, recovery of aging inventory, scrap reduction and improved cycle-times
· Define, manage, and report on key operational metrics while identifying opportunities for improvement
· Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives within Service Operations, leveraging lean methodologies.
· Utilize available data to develop analytics to identify systemic issues, recommend solutions, and implement corrective action plans
The Must Haves
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Industrial), Supply Chain Management, or a related technical field.
· 10+ years of experience in product manufacturing or process engineering within high-technology, telecoms, networking, or complex electronics environments
· Proven track record of successfully managing complex projects from concept to execution and driving operational improvements.
· Strong understanding of manufacturing or repair processes, process optimization methodologies, logistics, and quality control methodologies
· Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
· Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills, the ability to drive/collaborate effectively with global, cross functional teams and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
· As required occasional travel to service partners and to collaborate with colleagues on critical projects
· Fluency in English and Spanish
Nice to Haves
· Master’s degree in a related engineering discipline
· Knowledge of telecommunications hardware manufacturing or service environments
· Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and serviceability principles
· Lean, Six Sigma, or 8D problem solving expertise
· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· PMP certification or similar project management qualification
