What you'll be doing
You’ll be joining CIBC’s Digital and Client Experience Technology team, where we build and enhance the digital experiences our clients rely on every day. As a Quality Engineering (QE) Consultant, you’ll lead testing activities across projects, programs, or workstreams to help ensure solutions are delivered with quality, efficiency, and the client experience in mind. You’ll be hands-on in all aspects of the testing lifecycle, from defining test strategies and plans to executing test cases, managing defects, and advancing automation opportunities. You’ll also coach and support team members, provide thoughtful input on technical designs, and help shape testing approaches that align with business and technology goals. In this role, you’ll contribute to continuous improvement by introducing modern tools, automation, and emerging capabilities that strengthen quality engineering across the team.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you'll succeed
Lead testing delivery - Develop, publish, manage, and execute test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, defect logs, status reports, and exit reports. Oversee testing activities for a workstream, program, or multiple initiatives to support high-quality, timely delivery.
Drive quality engineering practices - Apply deep knowledge of software quality assurance and quality engineering to assess new and enhanced systems, challenge technical designs, and identify testing impacts early. Build and advance automation solutions that improve coverage, efficiency, and consistency.
Manage team performance - Lead and coach a team of test analysts by supporting capacity planning, productivity, quality outcomes, and alignment with project requirements. Help maintain strong adherence to Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Engineering (QE) standards and support the adoption of improved practices.
Enable operational excellence - Secure the test data and environments needed for successful testing, develop testing estimates, and manage testing-related financials where required. Monitor progress, track risks and issues, and help ensure governance and compliance expectations are met.
Strengthen continuous improvement - Identify opportunities to improve policies, processes, procedures, and tools, and implement practical enhancements across the testing function. Track and report key metrics such as velocity, defect trends, and defect slippage to support better decision-making and outcomes.
Collaborate across teams - Partner with developers, business analysts, project managers, product owners, stakeholders, and external vendors to resolve issues, define expectations, and communicate testing status, metrics, and remediation plans. Recommend process improvements that enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness across the business unit.
