Description The Pre-Construction Manager is responsible for the managerial leadership and direction of the Global Practice business line's major pursuits, including planning, schedule development, estimating, cost tracking, preliminary execution planning coordination, preliminary project and engineering management, leading constructability reviews and integration with the project execution team. This includes supporting the development and execution of business strategy, creating new enterprise accounts, leading/supporting commercial negotiations, developing high-performance teams, and promoting Burns & McDonnell's culture, values, and mission. The individual will also lead these teams in a dynamic and profitable manner based on Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety, and overall outstanding service.
What you will do
- Responsible for determining pricing, cost tracking, preliminary execution planning, and cost and definition development for projects. This includes developing and implementing a system for reporting back actual pricing and labor productivities on active projects to influence ongoing estimate efforts.
- Direct involvement in commercial negotiations across major and strategic pursuits.
- Direct the coordination between Business Line Managers, EPC-PMs and CDB GP Manager.
- Provide leadership between CDB Pre-Construction Execution, Burns & McDonnell Constructors, AZCO, and subcontractors to safely reduce installation rates, advance efficient execution, and continuously improve competitive offerings for business lines.
- Provide leadership to the pursuits team; direct early project development and pursuit efforts ensuring effective utilization of staff.
- Direct initiatives for Objectives and Key Results for business strategic goals across the Global Practice, including regional offices.
- Provide leadership, development and guidance to the regional offices for EPC and major project pursuits.
- Review, implement, and achieve business plans across the Global Practice, including regional offices.
- Provide direction on business development efforts in the identification and vetting of prospective projects and clients.
- Liaise between regional offices and applicable corporate initiatives.
- Promote and manage internal relationships to establish guidelines and executable plans for conducting business.
- Direct preparation and implementation of pursuit development plans to support and develop identified strategies for furthering the development of the business.
- Provide senior-level technical expertise, input, and evaluation on projects across the Global Practice.
- Provide industry expertise with respect to the competition.
- Achieve established targets and standards to meet financial performance.
- Present monthly financial information to leadership including sales and revenue forecasts.
Qualifications- Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 7 years direct program/project management experience required. Or,
- Applicable experience may be substituted for degree requirement required.
- Relevant experience in the electric utility industry preferred.
- Prime contract and subcontractor negotiation experience preferred.
- Experience in project cost and EPC pursuit develompent preferred.
- Experience in managing projects, which includes proposal development, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination preferred.
- Demonstrated success as to budget, savings, and/or profit margins preferred.
- Strong understanding of all construction disciplines.
- Excellent communications skills and supervisory skills of field construction personnel.
- Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of P6, Microsoft Project or equivalent preferred.
- Expert knowledge of estimating methodologies and tools including the use of major estimating platforms like InEight Estimate, HeavyBid, or equivalent preferred.
- Must be able to meet company's driving requirements.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
Compensation$150,000.00-320,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
