The Material Handler is responsible for the manual labor associated with receiving and moving materials within the project yard. This role involves the safe and efficient operation of a forklift to transport materials. The Material Handler will work as part of the materials management team but will not be responsible for any transactions or duties within the Jovix system.
+ Safely and efficiently unload and receive incoming materials
+ Operate a forklift to move materials and equipment around the yard to designated storage areas
+ Perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and organizing materials
+ Ensure materials are stored in a safe, organized, and accessible manner
+ Adhere to all project safety procedures and protocols, with a primary focus on safe material handling and forklift operation
+ Maintain a clean and orderly work environment in the storage yard
+ Assist with inventory counts and verification as directed
+ Report any damaged materials or safety hazards to the supervisor
+ Proven experience as a forklift operator
+ Valid forklift certification
+ Experience in a material handling or similar role in a construction or industrial environment
+ Strong understanding of and commitment to safety procedures
+ Performs other duties as assigned
+ Complies with all policies and standards
**Qualifications**
**REQUIREMENTS**
+ Minimum of 3 years’ experience
+ Must be able to assess through Burns and McDonnell assessment program
**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**
+ Ability to stand, walk, sit, or reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
+ Ability to lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds
+ Ability to work long hours and in adverse weather conditions
+ Ability to work in an environment with loud noises and vibrations
+ Ability to properly wear and/or use Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
+ Ability to utilize vision abilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision to operate equipment safely
**COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS**
+ Ability to seek advice, make decisions, and exercise sound judgment
+ Ability to work under stressful situations
+ Ability to learn and adopt new processes and technology
+ Ability to apply verbal and/or written instructions or other information
