We are seeking a Senior Consultant focused on wind advisory who is passionate about renewable energy development, project optimization, and the technical and commercial drivers shaping the future of wind generation. This role contributes directly to project execution by leading advanced wind project analyses and supporting client decision-making through high-quality technical, economic, and strategic evaluations.
What You’ll Do- Lead technical execution of wind advisory engagements across the project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, site suitability assessments, and development-stage evaluations.
- Lead independent engineering and technical due diligence efforts for wind projects to support development, financing, and acquisition decisions.
- Evaluate wind project design considerations including siting, layout optimization, turbine selection, wake modeling, and balance of plant considerations.
- Perform wind resource and energy production (AEP) assessments, including evaluation of resource data, losses, degradation, and performance uncertainty.
- Evaluate grid interconnection requirements, transmission constraints, and curtailment risks affecting wind project viability and performance.
- Support owner’s engineering activities during project development and execution, including design reviews and technical evaluations.
- Analyze engineering, financial, and market data to develop actionable insights supporting project development, investment, and operational strategies.
- Develop technical and economic assumptions for life-cycle cost analysis, including capital costs, O&M, energy production, and market pricing considerations.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to assess risks related to resource variability, interconnection constraints, market dynamics, policy changes, and technology performance.
- Assess regulatory, permitting, interconnection, and market risks associated with wind project development and execution.
- Support asset management planning, operational strategy development, repowering assessments, and life-extension studies for existing wind assets.
- Develop technical memoranda, formal reports, and client-ready presentations summarizing findings, risks, and recommendations.
- Support project managers with client deliverables, proposal development, and business development activities related to renewable advisory services.
- Collaborate across disciplines to deliver integrated solutions spanning transmission, markets, and renewable project development.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance on wind energy and advisory best practices.
- Comply with all company policies and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years' related industry experience required.
- Master's degree in Engineering or Business may be substituted for 1 year of experience, preferred.
- Prior experience associated with energy operations, planning, or consulting.
- Extensive experience with emerging energy such as project development and site selection, asset due diligence and acquisition support, independent engineer services, condition assessments, and cost and performance benchmarking, asset management, operations, maintenance, and engineering management.
- Ability to independently execute various emerging energy studies.
- Extensive knowledge in standard engineering, construction, and operation techniques, principles, and procedures associated with emerging energy facilities.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Proven ability to lead, educate, and train a team of engineers and analysts in regard to emerging energy studies.
- Ability to independently solve difficult problems that require adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure and tight deadlines and to be effective in on-site work environments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, including identification of critical path items to ensure deliverable deadlines are met.
- Ability to focus on the big picture to effectively and efficiently provide services that meet client needs, while also having the ability to identify and analyze details that are critical to project outcomes.
- Willingness to learn new service offerings as client needs and the market requires changes to the service offerings provided by our group.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT).
- Ability to travel.
