To design, develop, and execute testing strategies to validate functionality, performance, and user experience, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve defects, and continuously improve testing processes and methodologies, to ensure software quality and reliability.

Join us as a Test Engineer at Barclays where you will contribute to the delivery of high-quality technology solutions by planning, designing, executing, and improving functional, non-functional, regression, automation, SIT and UAT testing activities. The role will support the continuous expansion and improvement of the test suite, ensure adherence to testing standards and governance, and work closely with business, technology, QA, development, and stakeholder teams to validate that solutions meet agreed business requirements and quality expectations.
To be successful as a Test Engineer, you should have experience with:
Experience in software testing, quality assurance, test automation or related technology delivery roles.
Strong understanding of the software testing lifecycle, software development lifecycle and core testing processes, techniques and methodologies.
Hands-on experience in functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, API testing and automation testing.
Strong knowledge of test design techniques, test estimation, test scenario creation, test case preparation, test execution, defect logging, defect verification and test reporting.
Hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cucumber, TestNG, REST Assured, Karate, AutomatePro or equivalent tools.
Good working knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Java, Python or similar technologies.
Understanding of BDD concepts and practical experience in automation development and execution.
Awareness of CI/CD and DevOps practices, including Jenkins or equivalent pipeline tools.
Experience using source code control tools such as Git, GitLab, Bitbucket or equivalent.
Experience with test management and defect management tools such as JIRA, ALM, Xray, Zephyr, ServiceNow or equivalent.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex requirements and identify quality risks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with global teams and stakeholders on test progress, risks and outcomes.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an Agile environment, managing assigned activities with accountability and attention to detail.
Strong focus on quality, governance, documentation, traceability and continuous improvement.
Some other highly valued skills may include:
Experience working on banking, financial services, risk, control, compliance, regulatory or investment banking applications.
Exposure to ServiceNow, IRM, control technology platforms, reporting workflows or enterprise risk systems.
Experience with CI/CD pipeline integration and automated regression execution.
Domain, testing or technical certifications such as ISTQB, Selenium, Agile, DevOps or equivalent would be an advantage.
Experience contributing to QA process improvements, automation strategy, regression pack uplift, defect management improvements or quality engineering practices.
