With respect to NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between USD 175000 and USD 225000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.

Balyasny Asset Management (BAM) is seeking a highly technical Senior QA Engineer to help drive quality across business-critical applications. This is a hands-on role for someone with strong testing judgment, solid programming skills, and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle. You will work closely with developers, project managers, and end users to improve test strategy, build automation, identify risk early, and help deliver high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Develop test strategy, test plans, test cases, and test procedures across functional, exploratory, integration, regression, API, UI, data validation, and end-to-end testing 

• Build and maintain automated testing solutions for web applications and supporting services 

• Partner with developers to improve testability, prevent defects earlier, and strengthen engineering practices 

• Identify and communicate product, technical, and delivery risks clearly and effectively 

• Participate in code reviews, sprint ceremonies, and cross-functional design discussions 

• Help improve QA standards, developer testing practices, and release confidence 

• Contribute to internal documentation, knowledge sharing, and user enablement where needed 

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in QA, SDET, or quality engineering roles 

• Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript, or C# 

• Demonstrated experience building automated test frameworks for web applications 

• Experience in API testing, UI testing, data testing, or end-to-end automation 

• Strong understanding of SDLC, CI/CD, version control, and modern engineering practices 

• Experience with tools such as Git and Jenkins 

• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills 

• Financial industry experience is a plus, but not required 

• Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as Copilot, Claude, or Codex is a plus
