With respect to NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between USD 140000 and USD 140000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
The Catalyst Program at Balyasny Asset Management is a structured training and development program focused on long/short equities investing. The program combines formal investment training in accounting, modelling, and research with direct exposure to PM teams.
Program Overview
The Catalyst Program is a 9-month development program designed to build strong investment and research capabilities through a structured progression of training, hands-on analysis, and data-driven idea generation. Participants begin by developing core skills in accounting, financial modelling, sector and company research, as well as applied AI and innovation. Built to prepare participants for a long-term career in public equities, the program also provides direct exposure to investment teams. In the final two months, participants complete two 1-month rotations before being placed full time on an Equities team.
Responsibilities
Following the trainings, all Catalyst grads will report to a Fundamental L/S Equity Portfolio Manager and will:
· Conduct fundamental and primary research on companies and industries
· Build and maintain detailed company financial models
· Perform valuation analyses and develop company and industry reports
· Support the team with projects related to industry trends and investment research
Qualifications
· Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, or a related field
· Expected graduation date between Winter 2026 and Spring 2027
· Strong analytical and financial modelling skills, including experience with DCF models
· Demonstrated interest in financial markets and analyzing industries and companies; prior exposure to markets
· Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
· Creative problem-solving abilities and intellectual curiosity
· Highly motivated to pursue a career in public market investing
