Position Overview
Are you passionate about helping users succeed inside complex design software — from their very first launch through day-to-day workflows? Would you like to contribute to making Fusion easier to learn, easier to adopt, and more effective for millions of professionals worldwide? If yes, read on!
Autodesk is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Astro Team in Kraków, contributing to the Ease-of-Use initiative within Fusion. Our team builds in-product experiences that help users get value from Fusion faster: the Autodesk Assistant in Fusion, Fusion Insights, and guided Walkthroughs for onboarding and adoption. We work at the intersection of desktop client features, web technologies, and data-informed product iteration — helping users discover capabilities, receive timely recommendations, and complete guided tasks with confidence.
At large, we develop C++ components in the Fusion desktop client, alongside JavaScript and web development for assistant-related experiences and integrations. Parts of our codebase also use Qt, TypeScript, and Fusion’s learning, personalization, and assistant surfaces. Our infrastructure is built on Git, Jenkins, CMake, and Docker. We develop for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The problems we solve range from effective in-product UI, assistant and insights delivery, first-launch and walkthrough flows, through instrumentation, feature adoption analysis, and engagement statistics — all in a friendly atmosphere of experimentation, creative collaboration, and agile delivery.
If the above feels like a place for you to grow professionally, check what we have to offer and join our diverse team. We guarantee you won't get bored!
AI in how we work: We use AI coding assistants (e.g. Cursor, Claude Code, or similar) as part of everyday engineering — to plan, implement, test, debug, and document production software. You should be willing and able to use these tools effectively while remaining accountable for correctness, security, and maintainability of what we ship.
Responsibilities
Design and implement features that improve Fusion’s ease of use through Autodesk Assistant, Insights, and Walkthrough experiences.
Contribute to in-product guidance: assistant integration, insights surfacing (including nudges and engagement flows), and onboarding walkthroughs tied to first launch and user intent.
Produce clean, effective, secure, maintainable, and well-documented source code across Fusion client and web components.
Use AI-assisted development workflows responsibly: write clear specs, constrain scope, review diffs, and verify outcomes with tests and debugging.
Unit test, debug, and resolve defects in implemented software solutions.
Actively participate in code reviews.
Collaborate with teammates, QA, product, design, and adoption stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
Support data-informed development: instrument features, collect usage signals, and analyze feature adoption statistics to understand how users engage with Assistant, Insights, and Walkthrough capabilities.
Conduct and contribute to technical discussions.
Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of professional software engineering experience (or equivalent practical experience).
Solid experience in C++ programming.
Working experience in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js and web development.
Ability and willingness to use AI technologies to improve software development processes (planning, implementation, testing, debugging, documentation).
Sufficient engineering experience to review, debug, and validate source code generated with AI assistance — not just accept it at face value.
Understanding of object-oriented development and basic software design practices.
Some experience with, and willingness toward, data analysis — including feature adoption statistics and usage metrics — as inputs to engineering decisions.
Great teamwork attitude and good communication skills; communicative English.
Ability to learn new technology quickly.
Bachelor's (BS) or higher degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or another engineering domain — or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the Qt framework is a plus.
Experience with Autodesk Fusion or CAD/design products is a plus.
Experience with Git, CMake, or Docker is a plus.
Experience with in-product onboarding, guided tours, or assistant-style UX is a plus.
Experience analyzing product analytics dashboards, engagement funnels, or adoption metrics is a plus.
Understanding of agile software development is a plus.
