Associate Director, Consumer Device Quality & Reliability Engineering

As an Associate Director, Consumer Device Quality & Reliability Engineering, you'll lead a team responsible for ensuring consumer hardware and software products deliver exceptional quality, reliability, and customer experiences. You will partner with suppliers, manufacturers, product teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to establish quality strategies, improve manufacturing processes, reduce risk, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Your leadership will directly influence product performance, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and compliance across mobility and broadband product portfolios.
What you'll do
- Lead quality engineering, reliability, product safety, and manufacturing quality initiatives for consumer mobility and broadband devices.
- Establish and drive new product introduction quality controls, including reliability validation, safety assessments, durability testing, process capability plans, and corrective action programs.
- Develop and execute quality and reliability strategies while providing technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams and supplier partners.
- Oversee supplier quality performance, evaluate OEM and third-party manufacturing capabilities, and drive continuous improvement through standardized quality methodologies.
- Lead root-cause investigations and resolution of product, equipment, manufacturing, safety, and customer-facing quality issues while monitoring field performance and implementing corrective actions.
- Drive automation, advanced testing, process optimization, reverse logistics, and remanufacturing quality programs to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance customer outcomes.
What you'll need
- Deep technical expertise in mobile phone and broadband gateway manufacturing processes, quality engineering, and reliability methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership skills to drive the most out of a highly technical team of managers.
- Experience with statistical process control, process capability analysis, manufacturing quality systems, and structured change management practices.
- Knowledge of product safety regulations, certification requirements, risk assessments, incident management, and recall processes.
- Expertise in root-cause analysis, failure analysis, structured validation, corrective and preventive actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience implementing automated testing, process optimization, equipment qualification, and manufacturing automation solutions.
- Ability to assess supplier capabilities and drive quality improvements across OEM and third-party manufacturing environments.
What you'll bring
- 5+ years of related experience in quality engineering, reliability engineering, manufacturing quality, product safety, or a related technical field.
- Experience leading teams responsible for quality, reliability, supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or product safety initiatives.
- Proven ability to develop and execute quality strategies while driving operational performance and continuous improvement.
- Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, operations, legal, compliance, marketing, design, and product development teams.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.
- Experience managing and developing quality and reliability professionals, including responsibility for team leadership, performance management, and operational execution.

Our AD-Supplier Qual & Reliability Eng jobs earn between $155,400.00 - $261,100.00 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
